Engine losing oil!
Well, this can't be good...
I noticed lately while topping off, that my car is using a lot more oil than normal. And of course the floor in the garage had relatively fresh oil specks - not much but enough to worry about a leak in the engine. I used about 1 liter of oil on 2000 km's - thats about a quart in little more than 1200 miles! What do you think? Does it proof a leak somewhere?
I also noticed that while revving past 5500-6000 the engine lets of a sort of metallic sound, like a train going through a tunnel or something. It's not heard in the lower revs....
It's going to the dealer soon anyway (having some trouble with the infamous 2nd gear ). What should I do/not do in the meantime?
Cheers,
Lars

if you've got oil on the ground, then you've got a leak SOMEWHERE. Could be a loose oil filter or something bigger.
Have the dealership check it out asap

The metal noise could be the ports opening.
Oil consunption varies. You can go 1,000 and nothing.
Or go 100 miles and alot.
Depends upon how hard you drive.
Oil on floor is no good. Get it on a lift.

I also hear the metallic screech at ~6000 rpm, I believe it is the secondary (or tertiary) intake runner opening . . . normal, always did it.
I had a leaking oil filler neck, where it enters the block on the driver's side, right in front of the oil filter. I smelled burning oil all the time, but never had so much a s a drop on the garage floor. It didn't leak fast enough to not burn off. I have a thread on the subject here:
