Looking at buying a rx-8

I was looking at buying a 02 or 05 rx-8 but have heard allot of bad things about the motor and the reliability. I love the exterior and interior but I also want a car that is going to be reliable in the cold and hot weather. Im just wondering if everyone could let me know all the problems the rx-8 has

If you make a couple thousand of anything...some of them are going to be bad.
The RX-8 has issues like any other car. BTW, '04 is the 1st year, and the '04 models are pretty much the same as the ones rolling out of Japan today.

You need to search this site to get your specific answers. There is a really good FAQ thread that you MUST read:

as for the 8, it has a cult following. Crappy cars don't have that. So the good stuff out weighs the bad. My advice is that you get one that still has a few months warranty....so there is no worries then.

Good luck

I've had 06 and I haven't had any engine problems. My visor broke but they will fix it under warranty. Never had a flood problem. The problems seemed to have been in the earlier years but the reflashes and Mazda have fixed most of it. An 07 shouldn't have any of these problems. But if you are going to buy a used one make sure the lastest reflashes have been done by the dealer. Make sure it has low mileage so that it is still covered by the warranty. It is truly is a great car and getting better every year it seems. I would buy an 06 if you can't afford a brand new one. Oh yeah that is a great link above.
