How much are you budgeting for this project? Looks pretty expensive.

Well, I haven't worked out a budget yet, but my wife and I are 'empty nesters' so we have some disposable income. I'm not gonna do a 'frame off' or anything.

Love to see someone rescuing one more from the garbage heap and getting it back on the road. Congrats and keep us posted on your progress! Are you going to stick with the original motor or throw in a 13B?

It's got a 12A with a 4 barrel carb. I'm gonna stick with it near term and eventually go to the 13B. I'll have all the progress on that phtobucket gallery. While I'm at it let me get a straw poll going. I'm deciding on paint colors and it's down to Phantom Blue, or Titanium Gray with blue flames as kind of a mini-me of my RX-8. What do you all think?

Oh, If anyone knows anyone who might be able to find a '73 RX-2 windshield, let me know. So far I'm finding leads for everything but that. Thanks guys.

Omg, what an awesome car!

I have to vote for the Phantom Blue, just because I really don't like Titanium Grey. Please keep us posted on your efforts!

I'm not going to vote, but I'm amazed at how lopsided the voting is. Maybe I need to put a pic of my 8 so they can get a visual

I voted phantom blue, because that is my cars color. but PB and Montego Blue are different colors, right? I bought my 8 because it reminded me of a Montego FD so much. :D

Take some advice and find a 81-85 RX-7 engine for it. The dual distributors are a pain and adjusting points SUCK!!
Glad to see a RX resurrected from a bad fate, my older bro's bro-in-law had a wicked RX3 and a rotary pickup in the 80's, both were ungodly fast in a straight line.

Oh thank the lord another one has been saved from the grinder. Good luck on the project.
It's so sad that there aren't that many left out there. I hope to watch the progress of this neglected Mazda turn into a beautiful RX-2. Nice RX-7 rims. This is what I use to work on when I was 20, along time ago. Good luck and have fun. Want to see pics of the progress.
Do you have all the lights and bumpers? I saw you have the grille.

Oh and Cajun, Whats wrong with the dual distributors? The were the easiest to work on. Try doing the timing on a 76 RX-4 with it three sets of points on two levels in a single distributor. Leading, trailing, and leading retard. Triple shot. I hated those.

I'll think about a different engine later. The 12A it has run's real well and I want to get all the rest done. I don't know what I'll go to but we'll have a poll when that time comes.

Here's an example of an RX-4 in gray for your evaluation.
