Radiator fan stopped working....

i really dont know when this started but i remember that it would turn on when the car was parked and off, now even when i drive it hard and i just park it, nothing happens??? wondering if the newest dealer flash makes it turn on differently or wat?

just to add to my problems ive been noticing.... i noticed my old cat would glow red so i figured bad cat right? well i replaced it with a high flow and now this one does it too. the mods i have are custom intake and exhaust. dunno if that would really do anything........

does your 8 overheat? if it does, then maybe you may just have to take it in. I have no clue on the glowing cat though

the fans turn on based on coolant temp. if it's not hot enough, it doesn't activate.

Without looking to see where the sensor is, it's possible that low coolant could mean the sensor that triggers the fan is not in contact with coolant.

Personally, I have to drive hard AND in hot temps (>90F) before I notice the fan running after shutdown. Since I got the car in a February, I'd been driving it for some time before it first happened. Shockingly loud the first time you hear it! And you think "omg there goes my battery"

make sure nothing is stuck in the fans themselves.. a couple of people have had rubber bits stop the fans from working.

Cool Not ....

The thing you see from the front is actually the a/c condensor.

You can check whether the fans are working by pulling out the two relays, one at a time, and jumpering the two big contacts - the fans should spin (you can hear it, you don't need to see it).

If they are working, you just have to trust that the ECU will use 'em when it needs'em.

I've had to do this to my buddy's rx7 his relays went bad and he over heated =( but luckly turned it off immediately. It was the high speed relay that went out so when the car was high temp it wouldn't turn on.

honestly, if you dont think its overheating i wouldnt worry about the fans. but if you want to see if they work just turn your a/c on, the fans will come on with the a/c command. this checks the fan motors, wiring and relays... but not the coolant temp sensor. turn a/c off and set parking brake. hold engine rpms at about 3k for 3-4 minutes... thats my engine over-heat/thermostat/cooling fan test. works well for me

of course adjust your coolant to proper level

in order to *see/have access* to the fans, you have to take the stock intake (if its there, but guess not)

to have Full access, u have to take the battery box out as well.

Its easy, 15 minutes the most.
