Hey,
I'm a lil over due for the suggested 30k maintenance deal. The price I got quoted on the phone was $700. That seems a little outrageous to me. Is this standard, or should I be shopping around?

That is more than outrageous. Tell them you're getting one RX-8 serviced, not two. If that doesn't work, see another dealership or see what you can do yourself.

 

Thats what they quoted me, so i just went to the local shop down the street with all the fluids (Royal Purple) and they just charged me for labor. I think the total with all the fluids and labor, oh and i need new brake pads. Anyways the grand total was less then $400

 

Can no one tell me what mazda actually recommends as the 30,000 mile service?

i dont have a manual. i dont have an rx8. i am looking at buying one, hence why i am asking about maintinance issues and costs. if i had a freaking manual i would have just read it myself.

 

all i did was research what items needed attention and did it over 2 weekends. Flushed my radiator, changed diff and tranny fluids to synthetic, new oil, new filter, all that jazz. Just do a search. the price from a dealer to do that **** is a ripoff.

 

According to Mazda's website, the 30k is:

Replace Oil & Filter
Inspect Drive belts
Check Air filter
Inspect fuel lines, hoses & connections
Inspect cooling system
Inspect brake lines, hoses & connections
Inspect disk brakes
Inspect steering operation & linkages
Inspect front & rear suspension & ball joints
Inspect driveshaft dust boots
Inspect bolts and nut on seat
Inspect Exhaust system heat shields
Lube All locks & hinges
