Some of the lights on my instrument cluster dont light up (fog light on/off, security key) they've been like that since I got the car (20,000k's)

I'm assuming there is some LED or bulb I need to replace, the car is not under warrenty (its a Jap import to New Zealand)

So I did a search and found some instructions on removing the instrument cluster (https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-how-get-rid-blue-leds-instrument-cluster-94951/)

My question is, should I follow the above instructions to get the instrument cluster out? (and then guess the rest to get to the LED's)

Are these just general run of the mill LED's or is it more complex?

And finally, am I just barking up the wrong tree and theres something else I am supposed to be doing?

 

logan there is no lights for the fog lights on/off or security key so don't worry about it. you can tell if the fog lights are on by looking at the switch position on the indicator lever. there should be a little green light that tells you your lights are on though. ive never seen a security key light either. My car is also an import so it all sounds ok to me

 

Thats weird,

With light shining on the instrument cluster at just the right angle I can see the outline of the fog light and security key

 

i have the security key, flashes red

i have never seen fog light indecator light though
