Brakes

I've noticed that my brakes are starting to squeak. Has this been happing to anyone else. I only have 4000km on the car. I'm going to bring it to the dealership next week regarding this issue.

In addition to my oil level problem, I mentioned this when dropping off my car today. Hopefully it will be addressed.

aaah.... what was this thread about.. o yes, brakes..

Squeaking is a common occurrence in cars with multiple caliper set ups. Ask Porsche owners.

To reduce the noise, try this; apply brakes hard at every opportunity. You will find that this will help balance the load between front and read calipers and will give you equal wear at all pads.

No noises on mine and they work perfectly. Only danger is that they work VERY well.
I have been nearly rear-ended a couple of times, when i decided i did NOT want to run an amber light. I dropped the anchors, and watched the rear view mirror.

In a couple of instances i saw some very worried faces and BIG eyes.

One thing I have seen on some cars is that if you only brake lightly all the time, they can glaze over.
Maybe go out and try 2 or 3 hard stops and see if that helps.

I'm approaching 6,000 km and my brakes are still working great... the best part is that they are not squeaking. :D

Go to a different dealer for servicing. If that does not work, call Mazda Corp. and complain like hell.

Wow Pete, that's damn amazing. If find my brakes only squeal if they are cold and you brake lightly if you hammer them this shouldn't happen and once warmed up they should be good.

A lot of brakes do this, apparently honda brakes do this and they will tell you this is normal. I believe there is even a sign in some shops stating brake squeal is NORMAL.

My tiburon did this when it was cold, but as soon as the brakes warmed up they were good.

I have almost 8,000 km on my 8 now and there are not any unwanted noises anywhere! It does however make a wonderful noise above 4,000 RPM.

Guess I lied, took the 8 out today (suppose to be 22-24 degrees). Warmed up the breaks nice and good (hit the ABS 3 times!) Still squealed coming to a stop even when stopping hard.
