PDA, SCDA at Lime Rock

I've never tracked any of my road cars, only my G-prod race car and the baber dodge cars from barber series racing. Do any of the local northeast 8 owners go to the PDA/SCDA track events at LRP? My dad tracks his street mazdaspeed mx-5 (with dot approved track tires and roll bar) and has a ball. My concern is that my 8 is my new daily driver and I don't know if beating on it hard on the track is a hot idea when I need to drive it home and use it every day.

Also, may of the events in the Northeast are run in late fall and early spring. Many of the typical dot approved road/track tires that are favored around the country suffer greatly at these cold events and perform miserably. If there are any 8 owners who have played around with different tires for events and have thoughts on these concerns, please share them with me.

try cartct.com . I tracked my friend's rx-8 and my 350z a lot at Lime Rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vICXp_KOJC8

My car has 32K miles on it, still working even with all the track event. My RX-8 doesnt get driven on the track because it is automatic, I just use my friends.

As far as the tires comment, I doubt you will see any difference. RX-8 isnt hard on tires anyway, you should have no problem running any tires.

My 8 is also my daily driver and I have been to a couple PDA events (none at LRP). I drive the car to the events and drive it back. In the beginning I used the OEM tires, but now I bring track tires and swap them out. You can also find events to drive from April-Nov so I wouldn't worry. Driving the 8 on the track is great! Here are some threads of mine with videos.

Just do it. I've been tracking my 8 since 2003 and it's far from suffering.... it just get's better as I get better. I think it one of the easiest cars to just go stock or not to the track and drive home happy. It's was born on the track, and simply assumes it's natural state when on track. Make you car's day!

To answer your ?? - besides any good tires will work pretty well, even in spring and fall and rain in the NE. RX-8s are very easy on tires, others are shredded, we just motor on - I've used OEMs and Falkens and they both work great! Besides the harder you drive, the warmer they get!
