Cool Turbo vs Supercharger

I have a 06 rx8 and have heard both sides and wanted to know which one is better? I want a lot of power but I need torque too.

Except a supercharger is driven by the engine via a belt and is spun by the crankshaft directly, whereas a turbo is exhaust-driven.
Plus, many superchargers are "displacement" types, which work vastly differently than a turbo. Roots-style superchagers also use screws instead of turbines.
A centrifugal supercharger is a lot like a turbo, only belt-driven.

I know. I was being facetious . A turbocharger is just an exhaust driven supercharger.

horsepower = (torque x rpm)/5252
torque is a twisting or turning force measured in lb-ft or Nm.

The information that you have heard about superchargers and turbochargers is probably false. The internet is the greatest place for information, but most of it seems to be very bad information. That said, search the forum. No one is going to write a 10,000 word essay everytime someone asks.

just get like 5 of those 'Add 20 HP' chips. A fraction of the price of either a turbo or supercharger.

I'm not always good for serious answers.

Ignition, ignition, ignition. Is that all you ever think about?

Sorry.

I've been thinking about your ideas, I just don't have any good solutions in mind at the moment, short of the ideas we've gone over before.

I still think the blue e-man is probably the easiest way to do it.
If you had a flash solution (like Cobb), you could use the VFAD output to trigger the spray and tie it to whatever RPM and timing you wanted.
But that is still in the future.

MM, this whole time I was thinking you didn't love me anymore. Thanks for the current thoughts. I'll bug you later when I get closer to needing to control the ignition timing. Right now I am slowly fixing all the small things that have been hurdles to my progress over the past 12-18 months. Not to mention I am trying to start a whole new career, thanks to this forum........

If we could only harness newbi flaming energy to make our 8s go faster, we'd have no need of turbo or super chargers.
