hehe.. if i say i'm not gan cheong, will you believe me? ...

anyway, my query is to help me decide in either letting go or keeping my setup in my current ride. Just wanna hear from lao jiaos to any difficulty encountered in any area when dealing with ICE.. eg, space for amps/woofers etc etc ...

Toyed with a car PC for a while some time back. It's nice but I wouldn't say it's WAY BETTER than getting a good head unit. Car PC has it's own set of drawbacks too and after a while, I just prefer to leave my PC on the desk.

I listed down quite a few things that a car PC would be useful for, but in the end I realise that the most frequent thing I use it for is to play MP3s and if you replace your audio system with a car PC, you will need to boot up everytime you wanna listen to your MP3s and shutdown at the end of every drive. Quite a drag if you ask me... but everyone's different. Watching vids/movies, playing games, web surfing, GPS, all fine and good, but end of the day.. too troublesome and don't look as nice as 2-DIN head unit.

yea i guess the booting party will be a mess.. but maybe there are simpler pcs for cars... ie dun have to keep booting up or shutting down... kinda like a system thats running on eproms... but im not too sure...

u know the ones they show on pimp my ride? thats what im lookin for =) keke..

The best headunit I can think of now is a PS3. Blu-Ray player hook up to a DSP. For S$700+ no other player can compare. One prob is that DVD audio not established yet.

Nice idea, but that's like shooting bird with a howitzer. You REALLY want a big screen to fully appreciate the PS3's 1080 hi-res. And can pretty much forget about Blu-Ray coz the tiny screen in the car can't show hi-res. You'd probably also need a pretty big high-power inverter to power the monster. Having said that, I'd still like to see the 1st PS3 siao to install in his 8.

(you aiming the arrow at me ah?)
wait bro....wait..... just need to wait for my friend to learn how to mod the set first.
then see where to install....cos the ps3 is huge man.

with the ps2....i have to upgrade the inverter twice before it functions well. with the ps3...i dunno man....maybe need to run a dedicated battery.

but on a serious note....really no point putting the ps3 inside. too good a console to be fitted into a car. Not only you need 1080 hi-res, to fully maximise the effects, need a TV with HDTV capabilities.

I thinking of putting super nintendo so that i can play mario kart.

Yup, the PS3 belongs with a hi-res big screen entertainment system. Maybe can mount a Philips 37" 1080 LCD on the inside of the boot lid and the PS3 into the boot tray. Then open the boot and unfold the camping chair to lounge out behind the 8 to the latest PS3 titles. I'm good at giving other people bad ideas on how to spend money.. ha ha. Only problem left to figure out is how to avoid the exhaust fumes.

Yah, then the next thing I gotta do is insure the damn thing coz it's going to get broken into for sure. Even if it's insured, I'm sure I do not want to go through all that trouble with insurance claims and repairs, etc. Like I said, PS3 belongs in the living room entertainment system.
