====Front brakes 15% left!! how long will it last??====

when I went to do the service at the local mazda dealership today, I was told that only 15% of my front brakes are left and i need to replace them. I decided to not replace the brakes there, cuz I thought it might be cheaper if I do it somewhere else.

1) Please give me some suggestions about where I should buy the brakes and where I should install them for a better price?

2) And does anyone know how long will 15% last? 3weeks? shorter or longer? the dealer told me . it will decreases faster as it approaches the end , but the problem is how much faster. I did an naive math:
1000 days : 85% <=====> 176 days : 15%
So from the simple math, it shows that it will last about 176 days. however, in reality it must last shorter than that...but by how much shorter?

3) should I replace them with the stock ones or maybe the mazdaspeed ones or other brands?

please help me out!

thank you!! : )

The only thing I can tell you is that it'll go from 15% to 5% faster than 100% to 90% because the volume of brake material is less when it gets to lower levels. At least that's what the voices in my head tell me.

i have about 37k km now. The dealer told me the front brakes have 15% left, the rare ones have about 65%.

my dealer told me he replaced his brakes when there were 25% left... 25% is 1/4 which is a lot.... i don't want to waste that much.

Buy some pads...remove wheels.... remove caliper slide bolts....push back piston...install new pads...re-re bolts.......

takes about 15 minutes....shouldn't need anything else.

Or come by my house and I'll do it for you ( Cloverdale)
