Well it finally happened

Well, I almost made it a year with my 8 but finally somebody bumped my car while I was at Wal-Mart the other day, which sucks because I always park in the butt F*** of nowhere to avoid **** like this. However, the damage isn't that bad I'm guessing the person just tapped me. Would anybody have maybe some idea how much damage like this would cost to get fixed?

what am I looking at? rear bumper?

a new bumper is something like $350, then you need to get it painted.

Similar thing just happened to mine. Yes, a new rear bumper from Mazda—unpainted—is surprisingly inexpensive, a little over $300. I had mine replacd/painted at a really high-end body shop, so the paint and labor brought the charge way up. If you're not super fussy, I'm guessing you could have the whole thing taken care of for maybe $500-$600.

Or maybe a body shop will be able to touch up what you have for just a few bucks—take it in to a couple of places and see.

Enough said

Sorry this happened to your '8 but...

Walmart parking lots have a higher density of ignorant people than any other place in the world.

I wouldnt park my car on the same city block as a Wal-Mart and the kind of cretans that frequent a store like that.

Get some touch up paint for the scratches, some high grit sand paper for the plastic. Im sure you wont be able to make them dissapear, but you'll be able to hid them from plain sight.

GL with the repair, and stay the hell away from Wal-Mart!

Ok, I'm not that upset anymore, so I took my car to get it washed today and now that it's all cleaned up the paint damage( I showed in the pics above) isn't that bad and honestly you can't even notice it, with a good coat of wax you won't be able to tell. however, the black plastic trim is another story.. Is their a ways to fix the scuff marks or would it be easier to just get a new one if that's possible.. I wouldn't think those would be very expensive? but I could be wrong I guess.

Maybe some Mother's Back to Black will make it less visible?

take a further away pic so we can see what the black peice is.... If it's the center piece, it's actually attached to the bumper.... if it's the peice w/ the exhaust tip, that's seperate and you could just purchase one...

It's vandalism, your insurance will pay 100% of it.

Wow...if a couple little bullshit scratches like that really got to you, I can't imagine what you'd be like if you actually get into a car accident.

And you'll pay them back when your rates go up.

You probably just need to have it repainted. I'm not sure about the grey, unpainted portion, though. Looks like a few hundred bucks...

Might be better go just get a MS rear for all that--unless you want to stay OEM?

Mine didn't. It's not your fault for vandalism

I called my dealer today and I order a new exhaust Guard(the black peice). it was only $35.00.

My car was also hit by a cart in the walmart parking lot, a few weeks after I got it! I also parked out in the middle of nowhere. I still wonder if it was vandilism or what. Dented my passenger door. Had 90% of it removed with the paintless dent repair man. To this day, I never drive my car to walmart.
