Starter wiring - strange issue

My RX8 is engine swapped (won't go into detail here as I don't want to derail the thread) - when the shop did the new wiring harness, they ran a single wire from the starter harness to another small harness which connects to a spot in the fuse block, using just 1 pin of the harness.

Recently I have had intermittent problems with this - sometimes the starter won't turn at all, but it usually fixes itself after 5 minutes or so. Today though, after about 30 minutes of trying it wouldn't work at all; I ended up having to leave the ignition key on and jumping the harness with a +12v source, which worked fine.

Does anyone have any idea why this intermittent issue might be? The only thing I can think of is that this single pin in the fuse panel is not always getting +12v when the ignition key is turned; if that is the case, which spots do get +12v? My only other recourse is to wire the starter wire directly to the ignition switch bypassing the fuseblock all together.

Thanks in advance, I know that is probably very confusing!

Cool Wire you asking.....

The signal for the starter goes to the clutch switch before going to the solenoid.
Connect your starter wire there, or just get your 12 volts from the lighter socket....

Other option for me is to do a remote starter switch (S2000 for example) - any idea what the harness and pin is that are being used in the fuse panel are for?

Also not sure what you mean by getting +12v from the lighter socket...+12v for what?
