Angry wtf!!! Only Thing Worse Than Philly Drivers...

You know what is the only thing worse than the standard issue Philly driver? The standard issue Philly soccer-mom. Never see anything and completely clueless. This happened in a Walgreens parking lot @ like 9 at night while I am in picking up a few odds and ends. get the dredded INTERCOM page, "WILL THE OWNER OF A BLACK MAZDA RX8 PLEASE COME TO THE FRONT COUNTER"
Needless to say, a lady is standing there telling me she "BUMPED" into my car and isn't sure how bad it is. tells me on the way out that she is backing up and trying to give her kid in the back seat medicine at the same time and never saw me there? WTF do people think anymore. Seriously it is a vehicle and it is roling without a brain behind the wheel. I LUV THIS CITY!!! Let me know if you see a slight bump here.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2152680/3

Wow, thats a helluva bump. Sucks man. Is your diffuser f-ed up?

Im impressed you got a page, I would expect philadelphians to flee the scene.

Are you sure you didn't have the Batmobile on stealth mode when you parked it?

that sucks man. Hopefully you can get it fixed so it looks better then before you got hit.

I enjoyed your car at the meet a few months ago. Soccer moms are the worst drivers on the road period, trying to do to many things at once.

Yeah she owned up so that was good, the funny thing was that I had to stop the wife from killing the lady. It was funny though. Well the good news is that from this I look like I may be getting my "FABULOUS" vented hood and eye brows for the light fixtures. OH and Chris, I appreciate it, I got my mechanic Chuck who installed it looking at it but if we run into any problems I will definately hit you up man. thanks.

Why the heck was she trying to back up and give medicine to a kid at the same time?! WTF... is it too hard for people to pick one thing, complete the task and then do the other? I dont see why she could not drug the kid before she started to back up. God people are stupid! Ah well on the upside, i am sure her insurance company will give you an all new bumper rather than repairing that.

But doesnt the insurance company have to pay to put it back to the way it was before the damage? They just cant pick and choose what they want to pay can they?

yeah dude ur lucky she told you.. if this happened anywhere in new york... ud be paying out of pocket for it unfortunatley.. but seriously.. how dumb are people? .., backing out ur car and giving your kid medicine at the same time? wowwwww.. i mean hey i know how to multi-task when i drive my car .. between shifting, and eating a big mac, and driving, and drinking my soda and talking on my cell fone.. thats enough for me right there.. but givin someone medicine.. psht.. uncalled for. soccer moms should get eliminated off the earth.

Yes...but if it's your insurance company, your policy spells out what they mean by "the way it was." Biggest deal with that is that they can specify aftermarket parts rather than OEM. Aftermarket collision parts are certified to conform to OEM specs, but the certification comes from an organization set up by the insurance companies. You're also just covered for what the insurance company thinks your car has: if you've added accessories like a body kit that may not be covered unless you declared it.

If it's the other person's insurance, there is no such agreement, so they're on the hook for whatever the damage was.

Depending on the insurance company, they will probably pay what an oem bumper costs to have it fixed. And if the Abflug costs more than oem you pay the difference. When my car got nailed in the front they replaced it with all oem parts. And that was Allstate.

why dont u just ask her to pay out of pocket, so you dont have to go through insurance.. take it to two or 3 body shops.. get a quote.. give her hte most expensive quote.. make her giv u the money ..buy a new rear bumper for ur kit.. .. then take ur car to the shop that gave the cheapest quote and hav them put it on and paint it.. and ur finished..

The bumper can only be picked up in one place that I know of. JAPAN and only one shop has touched this cars body. AMATO'S collision. I told her that I would give her the quote and allow her to pay out of pocket however when you tell somebody that the bumper cost 850.00 the shipping from tokyo adds another 547.00 and then the install paint edge match molding add between 1100.00-1400.00. people seem to say, "UUMMM OK let the insurance company deal with it."
It is ok I told the insurance company about it already and they informed me that they are at full fault and they will restore it to it's previous state. essentially I am going with all the parts quotes and labor quote to an adjuster on tuesday afternoon and they are going to just cut me a check for the repair from those quote b/c it is a show quality car. (that is why I keep my trophy in the backseat) LEVERAGE BABY!
Oh well I will let you guys know if they give me the shaft(try to anyways) and after all is cleared I will tell the insurance company and let you know if they were good or bad

This spring is going to be definately more plausible for me to go to shows. Work doesn't seem to want me to travel as much this upcoming year.
Go figure.
