So, first winter with the RX-8, what did you do with your wheels?

I considering the investment and utility of my options, could use some help.

Kazera 17" with Dunlop Graspics 215/55R17 from Tire Rack, about $900. Well worth it.

Just ordered mine and they will be arriving today. Cheapest I could find was a pair of 17 Kazera rims with Continentalls on them from tirerack. All told 1,084 with S/H. No TPMS so I guess I'll hear alot of beeping or something.

Kazera 17" with Blizzaks in 215-55-17. Handling suffers a bit but the traction in snow or ice is terrific. With the stability control it makes the car an all-weather cruiser.

Have the exact same package that you bought. Also, the bridgestones come with a 50 dollar rebate as well so it brings the price down to 1000 dollars shipped. Unbeatable!

I went with Kazera KZ-A 18"s with Dunlop M3 225-45-18 and had great luck with them last winter. You oughta add another option to the poll - 18" aftermarket rims with snows for the winter, and stock rims for the summer...

BTW, I went with 18"s just because I don't intend to drive it in deep snow - the main advantage of 17s is more room to shed snow, but that wasn't a concern for me - I decided I'd rather still have 18s and just drive my wife's Xterra if it was too snowy.

One of the things that pushed me to a complete winter set of tires and rims was someone commenting that it'd be much better to slide into a curb with a less than $200 rim than the $500 factory rims - I grew up in the Philly suburbs and now live outside Chicago so I'm familiar with the snowfall there - I'd recommend springing the extra cash into a complete set - if you're thinking about new summer rims, that'd work too, just be a bit more expensive. If I planned on driving the 8 in deep snow, I'd go with 17s - but last winter I had Zero problems with 18s with snows.
