Ok guys, I fixed my 1 qaulm with the car the infamous squeeky gauge cluster.
Its that noise you hear when your on bumpy roads it sound like squeek squeek.
Well some jerk asembaly line dude obvously overlooked some thing and now it sqeeks cuz it loose. so what does 1 do pay 400 bux in labor at a Stealer ship? NO!

**** ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE YOU DO THIS PROsses
It will reset your clock trip miles and radio settings but the results are way worth it.****
Can a admin put this in the do it your self section sorry,

do it your self.

Heres the tools you need 2 hands 2 arms 1 philips head screw driver. and a bit of common sence. and 3 decent size o rings. after you do it youll know what size you need.


First you remove the lower panel under the steering wheel

 

then follow these steps.

 

now do this step

 

now heres the big step

 

heres the last step then you just reverse everything an d put it back to gether.

gonna try this tomorrow to see if i canget the lens off to 1- polish it, and 2- cover the blue LEDs in it.

But imjust replying to point out the the manual DOES mention 2 screws... if you look just above the W in SCREW on the diagram you will see a vertical line indicating the other screw.

Thought Id mention that for those that are reading similar diagrams... you have to follow all the lines pretty carefully since they didnt put a screw icon for each screw in most of the manual.

I want to connect an LED to the "Beep" buzzer . Sometimes I can't hear the beep
if the radio is up very high. A little visual aid...

 

btw can the car dealer modify the mileage meter reading?
because i am planing to buy a rx8 but i am affraid of the mileage meter is too low to be true.

I'm sure it "could be" changed but most dealers aren't going to do
it because of the stiff fines... Key word = "most"

 

While it can be done, it's extremely hard to do. Both the guage cluster and the PCM would have to be reset to the same number. This would involve hacking the PCM, since the WDS has no functions to alter the mileage.

 

didnt know the gauge cluster was that easy to remove! Now i am thinking about ditching the factory oil pressure gauge(and maybe cooolant one also) and mounting a "real" gauge in the factory housing.

olddragger, Please start a new thread for this and link to it, from here. I'd like to see the analog gauges using the stock needles along with stock font-like decals showing the degree markings. Should have 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 for oil PSI and 140, 160, 180, 200, 220, 240 for degrees F (My '8 got up to 248F running at MazFest in 109F ambient and that with the heater & AC on full, before it shut down to sub 3k rpm engine save mode). Seems like there may be room on the lower part of the cluster for oil temp and volt meter.

I have the gauge cluster rattle in my 07 GT Manual. I followed these instructions perfectly and got to the "scary" part where I'm supposed to pull the gauge cluster out by hand...

NOT happening. I pulled with every ounce of strength I have, and I'm probably of above average strength, and it would not budge. That cluster was not coming out. Something else has to be holding it in. Maybe the changed it for the 07's? I removed the panel, the 3 screws and the 2 screws under the wheel holding the cluster in place. I could get it to move up and down vertically and become very loose, but there was no way in the world it was coming out.

Anyone know what was holding it it? I threw some O-rings in the bottom area since I had access to that, but couldn't get behind it where I think it really needs one.

those clips in the back are stubborn as hell man jus be gentle but firm and pull stright back....i know that sounds weird lol but it works.

 

Gotta revive this because I too am frustrated with having a lame *** oil pressure gauge there when all that real estate could be used by functional gauges.

Has anyone contemplated doing this?

ive done it...well alomost done with it. i am working on completeing an sr20 swap into my 8 and i have had to do away with all my stock gauges. I made some smc filler plates and molded them into my stock cluster housing and have holes cut out for all my new autometer ultralite gauges..i will post up pics of the halfway done part if you like.

 

what happans if u dont disconnet the battery?

 

Reviving this from the dead. Dealer recommended to me to pull out my cluster and then just pull out the bulb for the TPMS light. Anyone done this or is this easy to get to the bulb or what? Just wanted to check in. Thanks guys. BTW
