2006 Shinka 2-Owner New Engine Immaculate
Year: 2006
Make: Mazda
Model: RX-8
Price: $7400
Mileage: 136798
Color: Copper Red/Grey
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (US State/Canada/Int): VA
The engine is a Mike Edwards rebuild at 125,000 miles and it runs clean and strong. Mike races RX-8's in the Chump Car endurance series (24 Hour races), so his builds are both strong and reliable. Intake is via a Racing Beat Revi ram-air intake. Engine is fitted with a header flowing into a Black Halo Racing Hi-Flow catalyst and a Magnaflow cat-back stainless exhaust. The stock catalyst conveys with the car. Plugs, wires and coils were replace at 122,000 miles. Oil and filter are religiously changed at 3,000 mile intervals. The engine cover is carbon fiber. A new radiator and coolant overflow bottle were fitted recently. I have a Cobb unit that is included with the car but it is not installed at the moment. The car was tuned by MazdaManiac initially, but I have not had Jeff tune it since the rebuild. Message?: there’s more power to be found by a tune by MazdaManiac…I just have not had the time to go through the process, but I highly recommend his services!
The Aisin 6-speed trans was replaced by Mazda at 39,000 miles as the original units 2nd gear synchro continued to grind despite 2 attempted rebuilds by the dealer. The new gearbox solved all issues and I run it on Redline synthetic gear lube. A new clutch was installed at 122,000 miles and a balky 4th gear synchro was addressed at the same time. The gearbox is controlled by a B&M short-shifter.
Suspension is Bilstein sport shocks wrapped by H&R sport springs riding 1" lower and coupled with fully adjustable front and rear sway bars. Hankook Ventus Noble tires with 95% tread depth remaining. Cross-drilled & slotted rotors, stainless braided brake lines and new pads are fitted. 5mm wheel spacers are fitted to get the correct tire/wheel well relationship.
The interior is in perfect condition. No rips, tears or worn areas. The steering wheel has been restitched with black Alcanterra. The shift boot is grey Alcanterra. I have a Kuda mount that holds a Garmin navigation unit. A Motorola hands-free Bluetooth interface is incorporated into the factory Bose audio system. Carpeting is perfect and always been covered with mats...which are new. Everything operates and works in the interior with no issues. The car is on it's 3rd passenger-side airbag cover due to the chronic cracking that, seemingly, every RX-8 endures. My 3rd cover has just developed a hairline horizontal crack...(aargh!!)...and I have ordered and will install the new cover prior to sale.
The body is in great shape and the paint has showroom gloss. The pictures do not lie. I had the nose resprayed due to rock chips and filled/removed the emblem at the same time. I relocated the plate below and this subtle change looks fantastic. There was a blemish on the hood when I purchased the car (at 26,000 miles) and I had it recently resprayed. I have carbon fiber fender vents fitted and updated tail lamps. Hella driving lights replaced the factory fog lamps and are wired to work with the HID bright headlamps, as opposed to the factory defeat. I installed a factory spare tire kit in the trunk along with a factory trunk organizer that fits in the well of the floor. A factory car cover and storage bag is included.
All recalls have been performed on the car, including air bag triggers and fuel tank pump/seals.
Everyone tells you that their car is like no other, but this truly is a gorgeous, clean/detailed and well-presented RX-8. Only selling the car as I rarely use it of late, and it's time to put it in someone's else's garage. PM me with questions.

what other mods have you done?
I see a carbon fiber cover? purchased or had this done
Different air filter?
Exhaust?
Does Garmin unit have back up camera?
Blue tooth unit?
How does that connect and work?
Alcantara steering wheel?
How did you do this or did you purchase and after market?
Any lighting changes?
I see a different rear brake light setup?
Thanks

- purchased carbon engine cover
- Racing Beat Revi ram-air intake system
- tubular header + Black Halo Racing high-flow catalyst + Magnaflow stainless cat-back system
- no back up camera
- Motorola blue-tooth hands free phone, and the Garmin also is blue tooth.
- Alcantera wheel was done professionally on a 2nd wheel I had purchased and shipped to them for recovering. Original wheel conveys with the car.
- already has HID lamps. Added Hella driving lights in place of factory fog lamps. Wired so that they work with the brights as opposed to the factory setting that turns them off when brights are engaged
- JDM taillamp assemblies.

Well no, its not stock. Mine does not look like this.
While not a full front bumper cover, it has a different front lip on the oem bumper. It has a half side skirt and whatever the small pieces behind the front and rear wheels are called. Its not the factory rear spoiler either, but im not interested in that.
It is a subtle look that sets it just far enough apart from Stock that it appeals to me.

If you are right, and these parts were the "appearance package", its a shame the first owner of mine did not get it

It has the factory 'Appearance Package', so while your car may not look like that, they are all factory parts and were available as stock option on all trim levels. Sadly I don't believe they are available via the dealer network any longer (and you wouldn't want to pay the price they charge anyways). If you want them, a junk yard or posting up here under WTB/Facebook may be your best bet.
