Save a bit more money and get a decent set of coilovers. You will thank yourself later.

I bought ISC coilovers, not a lot of people have them but they are really nice, and under a grand.. I did a lot of research and those are a lot better quality then most.. you should be able to find them on ebay

buy some lowering springs and struts for that kind of money. Will handle better than cheapass coilover.

Also, slamming a car needs all sorts of other stuff like alignment, camber and caster aids etc which is more money, really.

In a lot of situations, yes. Now if you just want to go low and don't give a **** about handling or possibly damaging components on your car then cheap coilovers should work fine.

I have Stance (not good coilovers) and I hated them. I put Swift springs on them and it changed them greatly and I am fairly happy now but they are still not valved correctly and so in a real performance aspect they are still crap. I will be getting a custom setup eventually when I can stop buying other crap.

Read this if you really want some insight.

Autocross to Win (DGs Autocross Secrets) - Buying Shocks

The other articles on the page are good as well.

OP, if you search you will find several suspension knowledge related threads.

But if you just want an answer to your original question i would say the Tanabes, because they use the stock shock tops front and rear and are at least from a reputable company. Megan is crap.

Don't ever put them on a shock dyno, it won't be good.

Good, saving an extra $500.00 - $1,000.00 can go a long way.

Well while were here, what all would I need to run a good spring setup? Good springs, good front and rear struts, and shocks...Right?

If its cheaper then I might go with the springs.

On the side: I do no track or drifting with my 8 as of now. Its a daily driver and something good to look at haha.

At the very least, Stance and the like use the top mount for support in the rear as intended with the factory setup. Last I knew, Megan does not. That alone should be enough to scare you away from Megans.

If you can put up another $400 or so, You could get a decent set of coilovers used, here on the forum. You will be happier in the end. And you don't have to tell people "I just got cheap **** on for now till I can afford something better"

Good deal. You will want to look for a set that are rebuildable and can be custom valved, like the Bilstein PSS9, KW, Etc. Also search through old FS threads, there is always a chance that some never sold and the threads just died.

Yeah I almost went with stance gr+ but I've heard countless numbers of complaints on them. Eibach Multi Pro R1's are good as well as Bilstein Pss9's and they're only slightly higher than the Stance coilovers.

Honestly one person will say they are awesome, the next will say they are ****. It's so hard to make a decision lol

All my mates rate D2's (they all drive rwd nissans) yet reviews here have said that they are shithouse

Anyone used HSD's? I've heard they are just powertrix/stance anyway

Stance are fine for the street and their customer service is top notch, they really stand behind their product. Honestly on the street, 90% of the people who run them would never know the difference between a cheap coilover setup and a high end one.

Couldn't agree more at the minimum you should go with stance, or powertrix.

Stance customer service is amazing. We have a distributer (TH Motorsports) right near us in Chicago. If you have any issues they just replace them on the spot. Super convenient.
