Question RE: steel wheels

Are 17" steel wheels available for the 8? I thought I saw one last year with steel wheels but couldn't catch up to it.

You don't use steel wheels for flowerbeds. You use tractor tires. Have you no decor sense?
Actually, I can't see spending $200.00+- for winter wheels that will probably end up looking like **** after the 2nd winter with all the salt, sand, calcium and general slop we put up with for 4 months. If I was in Florida I would likely put on 19" BBS's.

I'm sure you're not the only one. Especially where I am in Canada alot of 8 owners must do the same but I still would rather look at beat up mags than steel wheels any day. I'm look for used wheels myself but if I can't find them then I'll get the cheapest half decent looking rims I can find. FYI the wheels on my 944 doesn't show any signs of wear after 6 winters. Mind you according to my tire shop these are magnesium but my wife's MPV wheels are alloy and still looks great after 3 winters. Look around at all the alloy wheels they put on cars these days around you, they don't look that bad and those owners don't switch to winter rims every year.

BTW there are steel rims that fit. My tire shop tried to sell me some and I've seen an 8 owner selling his winter steel rims and tire setup locally.

I actually like the look of steel wheels on some cars ie: Subaru, Audi etc. It gives them a rally type look. And the BBS's on my 89 GTX Jetta look perfect after all these years, but then again, they are magnesium not aluminium.
All I wanted to know was if steelies are available. For $1500.00+-, I could buy a decent 626 that would last a couple or more winters, and not even have to wash the thing or worry about hitting a snowplough.
BTW, what are hubbies? I'm guessing hubcaps...but they would require steel wheels or did I miss something?
