Racing Beat Software and ECU - 2004-2008
Category: Engine - Power Adders
Price: $350
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): MN
Item Condition: Used
Racing Beat V2 flash on a 2004 ecu 6 spd. This will work on all series 1 rx8's as it has been programmed to work around the immobilizer. I used it on my 2005, perfect if you need an ecu or want to be able to swap it in without any downtime. The RB software leans out the mixture above 4,500 rpm and lowers the fan on temp to keep your car cooler. This ECU can be swapped in a 1/2 hour.

Before and after dyno:
This is an 11.7 hp gain at 8,800 rpm with RB software and a catless midpipe (also for sale). The redline is raised to 9,300 to make use of this.

Hi There
I'm interested in your Racing Beat modified PCM, would you be interested in shipping internationally, specifically to New Zealand? If so what would be the shipping cost?
Also could you let me know what the PCM ID is, which should be stamped/sticker on the PCM box.
Obviously this PCM could or should be able to be flash tuned with a Cobb accessport?
You can email me if you like, - miura@ihug.co.nz
Thanks, any info will be much appreciated.
Regards
Rotaman

As you can see from the dyno, the ECU and RB software worked (the higher redline proves the RB software is on there). The numbers are faded - see my best guess in the pictures below. It clearly says N3H6 across the top. The second part in black background has a row has Eor F, then G and a third letter that could be I, H or N. The second row with the black background is N3H6 78 88??? Under that is white background 5-279700-???. Under the bar code is *000739J*
I also have what looks like an inventory tag which had a VIN the same as what was written on the ECU cover. Here is the text:
Stock # 71135 Model Mazda RX8
IC # U/R Engine Brain Box
Description
Comments:
YR 2004
VIN: JM1FE173040107413

Hi There
Why are you selling this PCM?
Also could you let me know what the PCM ID is on the PCM that you are running in your car now? The reason I'm after this info, is just so I can do a comparison of what the Racing Beat PCM ID is compared to what is in your car now.
One other request, would it be possible for you to take a photo of the RB PCM top cover with the PCM ID on it and maybe one of the one in your car now and email that to me.
Sorry to be a pain in the ****, but if I'm going to look at buying this I want make sure it is going to work in my JDM RX8.
Thanks
Regards

I didn't get the gains where I wanted them. The labels are hard to read so I wrote out a note of the best I could tell.
Here is my stock ecu in my 2005 MT:

Hi There
I have emailed Racing Beat and are waiting a reply from them, I would like there opinion on whether they think this would work with a JDM RX8.
I will get back to you once I have heard back from them.
Thanks

I can only say that Racing Beat told me that the V2 software would work fine with a cat. I guess your best reference is their website. The ECU will be compatible with the Cobb Accessport. This is a good way to get RB software without the downtime of shipping your ECU.

Here is what the previous owner wrote (dedicated race car with CAI and straight exhaust): "I ran the rb flash v2 and saw .90-.91 lamda (13.3 afr)with timing up to 34 degrees wot." As you can see from my dyno, my afr wasn't quite that lean, but each car has its differences. Also, I only have a K&N dropin for the track - not a CAI.
