EXEDY Racing Twin Plate Carbon Fiber Racing Clutch for 2004-2011 RX8
Automatic counterweight included
Very low wear on plates - check pictures for micrometer measurements. New thickness is 4mm, recommended replacement at 3mm.
Due to the nature of the carbon material, heat discoloration of the steel friction surfaces is common. This does not indicate excessive abuse or detract from performance. For more info please contact EXEDY Racing.
From EXEDY:
In 1995 EXEDY supplied carbon clutches to Ferrari for use in the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula One. This same technology is now applied to carbon clutches developed by EXEDY for use in various forms of motorsport, providing an explosive shift feeling and dramatic improvement in engine response.
Through an improved re-design of the cover shape and using a drilled flywheel we have improved the response and achieved a reduction of total car weight. For example, a full carbon triple clutch on a Nissan R32 is almost half the weight of the vehicles genuine part.
The weight of a carbon clutch disc is one third of a metallic disc. Utilizing a high friction coefficient Hyper Carbon disc, we are able to reduce the disc diameter reducing inertia, enabling quick shift response.
Carbon materials are baked at more than 2000°C, which allows the carbon material to dissipate heat far better than conventional metallic material. The heat expansion rate is 1/20th of iron therefore eliminating a change in clutch feel that may happen due to distortion caused by expansion during driving. Carbon material not only has a high heat resistance but also a "non-stick" characteristic that eliminates disengagement problems.
MAIN BENEFITS
Rigid type center hub design gives the Carbon-R the ultimate shift response
Light weight flywheel and hub design significantly reduces inertia, giving excellent acceleration response
Added SX coating to the Pressure plate and Intermediate plate further increases stability and torque capacity
40 to 50% reduction in inertia vs OEM
SUITABLE FOR
Track day / Circuit Racing / Time Attack
All Hyper Series clutches come with a chromoly steel flywheel and forged aluminium clutch cover, which has no clamp load deflection as found in a pressed metal cover.
Automatic counterweight included
