Car Accident! Look at the damage! $$$??

Yeah... so I borrowed my friend's truck so I can haul some things around and in return, I let him borrow my car. Well, he crashed it, I don't know into what yet... Here are some pictures of my sad sad car...

Damaged Front

It hurts to look at the damage.
Notice the gap between the hood and fender on the driver side?

Bent Oil Cooler
Well, look on the bright side: I have an uncle who runs a auto repair shop so... Body Kit time!

Let's play a game, guesstimate how much the damage is!

Well, I can tell that there's some internal damage. Steering is a huge problem now, I believe some suspension components are damaged. The oil cooler is damaged as well, I will go check underneath it right now to see if there's anything else damaged.

I looked over the damage outside and I'm not so sure if there's frame damage or not. If you look at this picture...

The fender's crushed all the way in. Also, it moved the strut bar a bit, wouldn't that effect the frame on the other side of the car as well? So does that means that there's frame damage?

Tough call.....I'n not an expert by any means. I was concentrating on the other pic to see if I could really tell if the oil cooler was going to have to be replaced.

Find a good shop, don't have to go with what insurance recommends. Get it fixed right!

I was debating between the Mazda Dealership and my uncle for the car repairs... I'm leaning towards Mazda right now due to the possibility of frame damage. My Mazda Dealership has a collision center there.

I checked the oil cooler again just right now. The oil cooler is in good condition and does not need to be replaced, it's just the metal piece that's designed to absorb the impact got bent.

all dealers don't do good work. but if they work on it, don't take the car until
they get it right..

Hmmmm... if dealers are bad for auto repair then I guess I'll stick with my uncle, that way I can also get a body kit and some performance suspension goods with the repair money.

John, I think the frame might be damaged from looking at the pics, I estimate about 7000-9000 dollars of damage on this. the cosmetics is nothing man

but your car's suspension will need huge work......and steering rack, end link and sway bar should be damaged -..-

This is kinda tough one. How do you feel about possibly going back and screaming at your Uncle in the case where it takes a few times to get it right? This has nothing to do with his ability in any way shape ro form, but I want someone I can rant at until they get it right.
I'd still ask around locally..and you know enough guys out there that can point you in the right direction.......even if it is the dealer. Just make sure they understand that you won't settle for less than back to how it was and you are prepared to bring it in over, and over, and over again.....until they get it right.

I see, yeah, that makes sense. There's this really famous collision place near where I work, I'll check there later on today or tomorrow.

EDIT: Today's Sunday, they're most likely closed right now...

Yeah...inquiring minds want to know.

Oh......and depending on which way you end up getting it fixed..........and make sure this doesn't influence your decision, but the endlinks and front strut can be donated to you(shipping included), if they haven't sold by then.............just let me know. But.....again.....it's way more important that it be done right.

Not yet, he's at work right now and I don't have his work number. I'll be waiting in front of his house waiting for him to get home later....

That would be awesome... but that would mean that you'll have to reship the endlinks again...

Don't worry, I won't part with my 8 just yet. I'm more sad than mad right now... although, that'll change this afternoon when I see him...
