Racing Beat Rev8 and Cat replacement pipe
Racing Beat Rev8 and Cat replacement pipe
Does any body have the Rev8 exhaust and cat replacement pipe?
If so how loud is it and is there a major difference vs just the exhaust

I will take this as a chance to get one of my questions in as well. I have heard that removing the cat from the 8 makes the car stink.....Why? doesn't that stink come from the cat letting you know that it is going bad? I had the cat removed from my cougar when I had it and had no problems there. I would greatly appreciate if somebody could explain this for me.

I actually heard, or read on this forum that the exhaust was quite. Is the Pipe the loud part or both?
I get so confused with exhaust system pieces. What is the difference between a mid pipe, straight pipe, catback, cat converter, and all that jazz? Why do I see some systems using mid, and some using straight, or some are just mufflers, or without catalytic converters. Break down please.
stock exhaust= cat converter+"catback" exhaust (which is muffler and associated piping)
catback=pipe and muffler downstream of the cat converter.
mid pipe=straight pipe=cat delete pipe=taking out the cat and replacing it with a straight piece of pipe=not emissions legal

The mid-pipe they sell is also for race applications. It is a replacement for your Cat converter. It is also not street legal. But for racing it removes the restriction the cat. creates and frees up a little more HP and weight. Again it's also MUCH louder.
My advice for a street application is get the RP supercat high flow cat and the REV8 exhaust. If you really want to go with removing the Cat then get a mid-pipe with a resonator (which Racing beat also sells). This is basically a small straight through muffler in place of the cat. that keeps the sound under control but doesn't reduce the flow very much.

If you like a louder exhaust the Greddy SP2 exhaust is louder and still sounds really good.
