RG: so what was reason that Mazda scrapped that supercharger idea. Looks like A LOT of work was put into it just to have it end up collecting dust...

It was just a personal project that was put together by a couple of the guys at MNAO's R&D center. Had one of the magazine writers not seen it driving around, I doubt we'd have seen it either. They've been playing with turbochargers for a while now too. It was never an official Mazdaspeed project as far as I know but it was very well executed. I'd love to see a kit like that. Of course I'd rather see a twin screw supercharger instead but other than that it was beautiful.

Trust me... there is a BIG difference between being conversational and fluent in Japanese.

You can learn to say "see spot run" level of language within about a year. But you sure as hell won't be able to talk about politics or any deep level of discussion, much less watch the Japanese news. Talking to a senior engineer at Mazda POLITELY in APPROPRIATE Japanese isn't doable in year... maybe with intensive immersion studies you could after two years... but then that goes back to "eat, sleep and ****" Japanese.
well, just so we dont hi-jack thread, last comment on japanese: I'd agree on that... I know you cant learn political terms or anything advanced or specific like that in a short time. Though if by talking politely you mean keigo, I learned that last year, at least some of it. If you learn by class, it really depends on the teacher though. I was lucky and had a good one.

It's funny you should say that. Speedsource designs many of the products for the RX-8 that are sold under the Mazdaspeed name!

anyone?

it was nice meeting the yappers of the site in person

the dyno time with Slavearm and the turbo type 1 was well worth it. It was a conservative tune and we stopped at 335 RWHP which was at 12psi if i remember correctly. there is another thread under major HP with more details.....

we want to thank Dave at Rotorheads, Nick at Rotor Reliability, Greg at Stuttgart Performance and Cam at Pettit Racing for helping us along the way with this whole trip.

It was very exciting to get across the country to meet more rx8club.com members....

O'Rly? Do you know what parts in particular they have designed? I wonder if Mazda will leverage their abilities for the ALMS effort since they are so close.

hey Japan8- keep an eye on th enext few issues of RX-7 magazine. If you see pics from 7stock/Racing Beat look for one of a turbo'd exhaust manifold for a Renesis. I was holding it when they took the pic It was another FI project those crazy MNAO guys were up to. It was one the Blue Car that there are pics of around here somewhere from last year.

After thinking about it last night, and at the event, I think I'll have to stick with the following movie quote for you guys:

BERN: You want answers?
RX8 CLUB PEEPS: We think we're entitled.
BERN: You want answers?!
RX8 CLUB PEEPS: We want the truth!
BERN: You can't handle the truth!

Save your money...

BTW, I gave Z44 one of my inside contacts for him to get info up in the Pacific Northwest
