My bad they're 40's not 45's... Im probably going to go 245/40 on the next set since the fronts rub a tiny bit on the plastic inner fender when I turn sharply... oops

I just put some Hankook Ventus RS-3's on my car this morning. Holy crap I forgot how new tires feel. I believe they are semi-slicks, so I cant say how well they'd work in the rain or in sub-40 degree weather, but only 10 miles in and they are sticky as hell. Grip is ridiculous.

Just turned the odometer past 20000 miles this morning. That was a decent run for the original tires.

Got all four tires w/road hazard at Tire Rack for $660 total. I think I came out like a bandit. Car just needs a good wash and I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

KS New set of Michelins for 2010 r3.

Just purchased four Michelin Pilot Super Sports 225/40 ZR19 for my 2010 r3. Driving the twenty-five miles home from the dealership, experienced almost zero noise from the tires (qute unlike the OEM Brisgesones). Grip seems tighter than before, with a slighty softer ride. Softer, but without any loss of steering input feel. Beautiful warm summer day in Kansas - will have to wait for a thundestorm to see how she will do in the wet.
Had Tumminia Mazda in Olathe do the purchase (same price as TireRack), remove old tires, mount, balance and alignment all at a decent price. Did not want the local Firestone dealer to be futzing around with the r3 wheels, given their tightness (OEM tires had to be cut free from the bead) and relativley soft aluminum. No damage at all at the dealers.

Its much better to have the tire fit tight than to go bigger if you value handling and grip.

Those bigger tires are for looks unless you get a wider wheel.

Myself? I get all the traction I need out of my 225/40r18 Hankook V12's on a 07 GT RX8.
On what planet is this true?

I have a Series I RX-8 and have run the OEM RE40s, PS2s, Eagle F1 Asymmetrics, RE11s and now PSS. I generally prefer Michellins over the Bridgestone because they tend to have a better ride quality and ultimate traction. I daily the car with the occasional track session and have had no major issues with any of the above tires. I also do notice that the Michellins tend to not make as much noise at the limit, but are easy to control in a slide. I can still do power-overs drifts in my PSS when the road is wet or bit greasy.

I drove a RX-8 R3 and instantly noticed a better steering response with the OEM RE50As vs my PSS RX-8 with coilovers. Has anyone ever considered the S-04s in order to keep a similar steering response but increase grip?
