Having a hard time finding out if the shifter turret in the Series 2 trans requires oil. I don't have the S2 service manual, and the only info I can seem to find online is for older transmissions, as the ND miata and the S2 RX8 isn't quite that old. It seems the old NC miatas required shifter turret oil.

Any help is appreciated.

 

Just use some of the gear lube.
No need to go crazy as there are teflon inserts that help smooth the shifter action.
I noticed that the Axial flow short shifter did not have telfon inserts but a few drops of gear lube is all that it needed.
The S2 trans shifts nicely into reverse with the short shifter btw
