soooo, I was being silly suddenly wanted to test if I could flood an S2 by turning off cold.
well, you kinda cant.
I turned off after the air pump turned off on a cold start, so thats about say 1 min. waited 3 sec then tried to start it up again.
it did take abit longer to restart and the engine was just not as smooth to crank when from normal start.
when it started everything was normal again. no misfiring and anything weird.
but you just cant flood it.
16k miles on the plugs and coils.

 

Only thing this proves is that YOUR engine isn't that carbon infested. Mazda has current S2 Sb's "2009-2010 engine no start problems" so it is happening. The rotary related flooding issues will NEVER go away till they find a way to reduce/eliminate the excessive carbon build-up problems these engines have. As more S2 owners get to higher mileage, the flooding problems will show up more frequently on this forum.

 

I guess cuz I been keeping the carbon out of the engine pretty well.

 

What have you been doing?

 

nothing, GTX 5W20 and drive her hard.
next oil change Im going to do a UOA see how 5w20 holds up.
I dont believe the 5w20 is too thing you better use butter theory that some people say on here.

 

I've turned mine off a couple of times stone cold and haven't had any problems.

 

If you have ever deflooded an 8 you would not do this again.

Actually it only happened twice in all these years and both times were my dumb *** fault.

 

For real. I had mine flood during finals week a few years ago... not fun. I had to bum rides to and from different campuses and my car sat at the bottom of the apt complex until the end of the week. Then it took 3 hours to get the engine to finally fire.
