S2 60k Maintenance?

Hey everyone,

I am getting pretty close to 60k mileage on my R3 now, couldn't really find an schedules for maintenance. Does anybody have a good rundown of what I should be looking to have done?

Also I was thinking about switching to 5w-30 oil in the summer because I plan on driving a little more spirited. The issue is the winter can get pretty cold (Northeast OH) and I'm not sure 5w-30 would be ok during the winter. Is it worth switching oil every season or should I just stick to the 5w-20 GTX?

In the cars manual it lists what things mazda recommends to be done at what mileage. At 60k you should definitely be changing the transmission and diff oil. If you want to know what the dealer would do for the 60k scheduled maintenance just call them up and ask for a list of what they do.

If you are having the car dealer maintained then it is easiest to stay with 5w20, if not look at all the oil threads and decide what weight you want.

Like xexok said, drivetrain fluids replacement, air filter, cabin filter could be a good idea as well, if it never been replaced. you spark plugs should be replaced too, and for the 2nd time if it had not been done before.

The previous owner of my car, bless him, had the drivetrain fluids done right before he sold it. On the other hand the cabin filter is a good idea thank you. anyone have a good recommendation on spark plugs? I was thinking i might just upgrade them along with my injectors soon, but all the research I did for the plugs turned up unsuccessful.

OEM spark plugs are the best option. Just go to mazmarts website or search here to get the exact ones you need. You can order them from mazmart as well.

Why do you think 'upgrading' your injectors is a good idea?

Totally unnecessary, leave them alone, they should be good for another 60K, then perhaps look at getting them serviced/renewed.

The 4 OE's are excellent.

Coils in my own opinion are completely unnecessary at 60k, with the upgraded coils on our car, I doubt they will ever need replacement. I'm close to that milage a well and my economy as not changed a bit.

Hah, I literally trolled my "gearhead" friends with this by asking them to point them out for me. Takes a good while until they catch on. Then they call my car trash and I feel more misunderstood T.T
