That's your VFAD (variable intake duct) solenoid. Some people remove the VFAD entirely, it doesn't super matter. However you do need to fix the hose, can't have a hole in a vacuum line that lets unmetered air into the engine.

Dear All, I seem to have some hose issues in my new Series II, that just bought. the car runs fine. There is a decat. so some error codes were there regarding that, I deleted them and it seems fine( although it came back again - deleted again)
I am not premixing but using Octane 95.

Not sure what the prev owner etc.. has done. But is this set up OK to run with?
The deleted hose is supposed to go to the "metering oil nozzle" assembly according to this (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/15...age=312#manual)
What could the prev owner or earlier owners have been trying to do here?

I bought my 08 rx8 series 2 R3, last week , the owner didn't know much about it, neither did I.

Opening the hood, I noticed some lines seem deleted or what not, but the car ran fine so I got it (Ran a scan and looked at any leaks etc ).
The deleted hose seems to be running to the Oil Metering Pump (OMP) setup.
I haven't seen the OMP setup yet. Is it safe to run like this?

There's no such thing as a 2008 S2 R3. S2 started in 2009. So which is it?
I think you need to figure out what's going on at the other end of that deleted hose. Is it just open to atmosphere?

I wouldn't drive it like this, or premix if you need to drive with an unknown condition oil injection. Hoses are relatively cheap, I would return it to stock configuration.

Loki, thanks for your comments. The Docs say 08, but it must be an 09 then.
Haven't really dove into the engine bay yet, but as you recommended, if it is open to air it must be bad.
Will update once I figure it out.

the S2 only has two hose connections

your diagram is for an S1, the S2 doesn’t have the air intake hose to the oil metering nozzles. That was all redesigned on the S2.

hard to tell exactly what is going on there; are you saying the accordion tube section on your intake has three hose connections with one blocked off?

TeamRX8, Thanks for the reply.
I think what you said is correct, there is a line running from the oil cap neck. I guess that is for the OMP.
But, it seems one of the prev. owners may have replaced the intake pipe (maybe after a crash!!! it is a new paint job! with some small bubbles on the hood) from an S1.

Thanks a lot for the help, still figuring out the car. Will be taking it for an underside inspection next week. Will keep you posted.
