those compression numbers are pretty good, but you have to realize the rpm was around 300 as opposed to 250rpm, so your readings are going to be slightly higher...

***The readings you see in that pic are going to be higher than what they really are... Im not sure if I worded my last post the right way... lol so id say you'd be in the high 7's, which is pretty good

i finally got my R3 back this weekend after having the motor replaced. mazda couldnt give me an exact reason what caused the first motor to fail. i'm guessing it was due to being slack on changing my coils, plugs, and wires. all they said was the first rotor has almost no compression and was completely destroyed while rotor 2 was in excellent condition. since they had everything apart however it was nice of them to change my clutch for free as well.

now having a brand new motor in going through break in period all over again =( trying to stay under 4k is absolutely killing me!

I had the odd hesitation in starting when hot so was starting to get paranoid over having a compression failure on my May 2009 26,000 mile R3. To put my mind at rest, I had a compression test done by an independent tester (ie not Mazda dealer) who got the following results:
Front rotor: (adjusted by machine to 250 rpm)
6.8
6.7
6.6
Rear rotor: (adjusted by machine to 250 rpm)
6.4
5.7
6.1
The starter motor was spinning up nicely judging by sound and the OBDII-linked gauges I have and the test speeds.

Clearly the figures are lower than the often-quoted 6.9 and a reading of 5.7 is notably low.

I've just done a track day and, for what it's worth considering that other cars may have been modified or had stickier tyres on, I was the slowest RX8 out there. That could be me as a driver or other external factors, but it adds to my concerns.

I'm more worried about power loss than hot starting

For the moment I'm trying to forget about all this and just enjoy driving my car but it still nags at me.

New Clutch also!!, Mazda and their Dealers are excellent when it comes to renewals.
Here is WHY Mazda owners keep re-investing in their engineering.
