interesting, so in the end did you get new housings and new apex seals? what was reused in the rebuild?

you can test compression with regular compression tester and some video editing :-), need to do this myself to see what my engine numbers looks like...

and excel file to normalize the data with:

Front cover and oil pan were about the only items reused from my engine, other than things like fasteners, oil nozzles, etc. All seals and springs were replaced with new. Rotors, front counter weight and fly wheel came from a much lower mileage engine. Everything else (housings, irons, e-shaft, stat gears, oil pump) was new.

measured my compression the other day and it all looks good for car with 47K miles with last 19k of them spent driving to/on/from track. my small battery mod (I have motorcycle 7lb battery) caused slow cranking speed. car has been on steady diet of high HTHS synthetic oils and 0.5 oz per gallon of idemitsu premix since I have it (last 20k miles)

Here is stock omp injection rate for S2. by looking at these injection rates one would think you actually want to premix less on the track given the high injection rates @ high load/rpm one would see on the track?

part throttle street driving/highway cruising is where premixing is really needed.

I’ve a question on the VersaTune forum about this very thing. Do you know if throttle position has any impact on the oil injection rate? It appears from the tables I saw that rate is based on load only. My concern arises from me modifying the throttle map to make response linear.

I would think that load is related/proportional to the throttle position. log throttle position vs load.

on the track rx8 operates in the bottom right quadrant of that map, driving around town/cruising is upper left quadrant of that map, hence my question...

I figured there’s a relationship between load and throttle position (more throttle =more load, not tryin to be a smart ***). What I was hoping to clarify is if the injection rate is directly related to throttle position since I messed with tables related to position vs opening. Factory table has more opening occur during initial throttle pedal movement with less opening as you get deeper into pedal travel. I’ll log data next weekend.

It shouldn't matter, you're just changing how the throttle reacts to your input. Engine load is still calculated from the MAF, unless there's some weird behind the scenes interactions. Curious what you find!
