When it needs one mine is still late 2008 but I condition all mine when new, makes them last a little longer, so almost 10 years, but I think I will need a new one as I have had my 8 stored for a few years without any battery tender, I will see when I put on my conditioner/charger...I think I will need a new one.

Anyway, really there is no specific time frame for lead acid batteries.
Did the previous owner put in a replacement with the same CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) as the S2 original, most people usually do not asses it right or put in what a catalog says for RX-8 usually series 1 which had a smaller battery with less CCA...but that really is not your issue right now, I was making an observation.

All I could hear in Vid 1 is high beeps and high squeaks like a printer, I have none of these sounds in my S2, has yours got AKE, advance key-less entry?...

the second under bonnet/hood I could hear nothing wrong, too noisy, normal Rotary RPM rev.

3rd vid I hear some squeaks and yes it could be starter overrun/solenoid, is yours a turn flip key or turn a **** (AKE), IF that turn **** has a slow turn around (spring) your starter may be still engaged, but as Dan said usually they will scream, personally your starter seems just a little slow or weak for a S2, could be Battery condition/charge maybe.

But agree high pitched is also usually Air Pump bearings, but they will usually scream all the time until turn off, about 90 seconds after first start on cold engine.

First I thought Starter in 3rd vid start up, but then at vid end another noise before vid goes off, just throwing this out any loose exhaust manifold heat shield, brackets.
The softer chimes in the first video are pretty normal. I have the Advanced Key for my GT and it makes the same soft chimes before starting.

The high beeps are probably aftermarket equipment like a radar detector, a dash cam, backup sensors, etc.

I do agree it's just a hair too long for a cold start.

Easy way to tell if it's a starter noise: just turn the key quickly when the car is already running. I know, not the best thing to do, but if you do it quickly, it should be fine.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I just replaced the starter today, the cold start noise is gone. But, the whining noise when revving is still there. I checked my battery, disconnected my alternator for a little bit while the car is running, the noise persists. Searched around again for the MIAC noise, it sounds similar, but mine happens at 3k-5krpm, not at higher rpm like most guys who had that noise. Also found a video of rx7 which seem to have the same noise as I do. I have the same "air hissing" sound like he had at 34'' in the video. Any ideas?

So the Orifice arrived this afternoon and I just inserted it in the coolant hose. The noise is still there...I am out of thoughts, could this relate to driveline? Maybe it's time to finally go to the dealership?

I don't know if it is related to the noise at the start, but I found that there was a clunk noise coming from the front of the car when I depress the throttle while the engine is off (ignition switch on). It happened at half throttle position every time and went away when I switch everything off. I have never heard this noise/noticed it. Is this normal?
