TN 2009 R3 - clutch pedal made loud noise & doesn't fully dissengage

why wouldn't this happen 300 miles from my house. Clutch made a cracking sound when i had it in.... then shifting gears was pretty hard, but luckily i only needed to drive a little. next morning clutch pedal had very little feel and was near the firewall. had to start in 3rd and muscle up to 5-6th gear to get it home.

code p0850 came up with check engine light.

how do I not get ripped off by Mazda dealer to fix this mess? car is parked and pretty much undrivable.

any recalls on the clutch pedal that would apply to mine? its a 2009 with 71k miles on it. 2k on replacement motor done at the mazda dealer.

thank you!!!!!!! Nashville, TN
