So while I am waiting on the resistor arrays to get in, I went ahead and revised the board again and ordered the new design. This new board is similar to the other, except it has been simplified a bit and I added a peripheral connector at the bottom right so that if in the future someone wants to add in something like ethernet, wifi, bluetooth, sdcard logger, etc etc it will be a simple plug and play

Slowly, for some reason the latest revision has been in processing for quite some time

I have all the components here, just waiting on the boards.

been a while since i updated. Been working and revising the design and dumping an *** load of money on parts and fabrication. Regardless, I managed to take a different approach in the PCB design, and if all goes well, I will be able to offer this device at a far lower cost with far fewer parts . Will keep you posted.

lol sorry, the original design has been built, but it was giving me strange results at times. It would go days working fine, then would randomly have some hiccups. I found where the issue was, and then realized I could reduce the footprint and have a more reliable system with some tweaking. I just want to make sure that this thing is solid. Hopefully this final board is the golden ticket... I have the fab shop making the board now, and it is being expedited so that i can get this built soon.

LOL sorry i missed these replies. Not to worry guys, I am trying my best to get the new boards in. I am pretty confident that this last revision is going to be the one to do it. Sorry that the updates have been coming slowly, for what it is worth there has been no idle time except when the fab shop is making the boards.

I had a couple more thoughts..... Will the display be able to show the outside and inside temps at the same time?

How difficult would it be to have an RCA output so that you can send the info to an LCD display. I was just thinking how cool it would be for me to be able to use one of the extra video inputs on my new H/U to display all the data from this on a nice LCD screen.

Just a thought!!!

As far as the display, it will still show the stuff at the far left and far right as well as the AC information. I made sure to retain that information. As far as some additional outputs, that is a pretty cool idea and will be something to consider thanks.

BTW, good news. Just got back from being away this weekend with the parts sitting at my doorstep, so I just finished soldering and everything seems to be working as expected. I plan on running some tests in the car tomorrow, but things are looking VERY good. Assuming all goes well with the testing, i will build a few more boards and send out to some testers for feedback. Stay tuned!

I was wondering about that, how much does it cost every time you order a new revision to be made? It cant be cheap since you are only buying a single one. Ballpark ofc, if you don't wanna tell the exact price. I have just been wondering that for a while.

Wow is all I have to say about this thread. You are a genius. I'm kinda pissed at myself that I never looked at this thread before now. I guess its not so bad though because now I don't have to wait months for progress updates like those subscribed have been. It seems im coming into it right at the end.

Long and short, I want this! I'm going to try not to sound like a fool because all this techno babble you spit is WAY over my head. But Its really cool how you take over the screen to show this info. And even cooler still how you are able to use the cruise control buttons to operate it.

I have just a couple questions though. Im sorry that they are questions that should have been asked at the appropriate time of the build but im just getting into it now... In regards to the LCD screen during normal use it shows the radio stations and clock it think if I remember correctly. By running your devise are we losing those displays? You mention about the devise going into "sleep" mode. Does the radio display come back then?

Also and im sorry because I didnt fully understand your response to ASH8's question before.
It seems that you can use the cancel button on the wheel to toggle through the info that is displayed. Does pushing the brake and/or clutch pedal (canceling the cruise) also cause the display to toggle through what is shown? Or do they get shut off when the cruise button is off?

One more question. Im sorry for bombarding you with Q's but im just REALLY interested in this system you have made and want to know about it. In one of your build pictures you have a shot of the radio pulled out i think with some wires coming out of it. Is that something that we would have to do to have this system work on our cars?

When you are ready to test a prototype let me know. Im local to you and would be more than willing to be your guinea pig. If there's any way I can help please let me know. I understand you want your hands on all the building details because you want to be sure its done right, but if you want to go for a drive and really mess with the computer without having to concentrate on driving, Id be more than willing to oblige.

Well welcome aboard . I am glad I am able to provide something to the members here! I promise you that the end is near, I am trying my best to make sure that this is a robust system, and designed in such a way that I can provide updates to owners and even custom code in case someone wants some special functionality or certain features removed.

Thanks It took some work but I am glad I finally made it happen, very exciting indeed.

Well, the thing is that the RxDuino will be the priority on the screen, which means that when you change your radio or turn up the volume, it will display that radio information, but then eventually change back to the rxduino information, just like how if you are listening to a cd and you turn up the volume, it shows the volume info, then eventually switch back to the CD info.

Correct, cancel will be used whenever the Cruise control is in "OFF" mode ("Cruise" not shown on the dash). Pedal signals are in no way used to interface with the RxDuino. The RxDuino will continue to display it's information no matter if cruise is on or off, the only thing that changes is whether you can toggle the display (when Cruise is in OFF mode) or when the buttons don't change anything on the RxDuino (when Cruise is in STANDBY or SET mode).

In one of your build pictures you have a shot of the radio pulled out i think with some wires coming out of it. Is that something that we would have to do to have this system work on our cars?
Not at all, that was just a picture of me trying to interpret signals sent from the radio so I can capture how to set the clock and such (if you have an aftermarket radio you wont be able to set the clock....the rxduino will remedy that ). This is a completely plug and play solution, just one cable, plugs into the obd2 port, and you are good to go.

That is a fantastic idea and appreciate the offer. Once the production ready stuff is done, I'll be sure to let you know, maybe we can even put the info like tire-temperature / tire-pressure / wheel-speed to the test during a track day.

Hope I answered your questions. I will keep you all posted!
