The angle is a little weird. The lotek on my series one doesn't angle up like that.

Not the best pic but you can see that they seem to not angle up as much.

Yea i hear ya. The difference is that your lcd screen on the S1 sits a lot lower than the screens on the s2, so by default the lotek (if it would have fit) would be sitting a lot higher up. The angle isn't all that bad and I can get a clear view of the readings when I glance over. The thing is that I am not FI or anything so I dont have any critical need to check gauges often so I can live with a slight angle.

Well I decided against the wiring to the OMP's for the oil temp. Instead I snagged one of these:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-2267/

I usually pump out my oil instead of draining from the plug so this should work out

Looking good. What's up with your center gauge (oil temp I'm assuming)? Got mine all hooked up, but when installing the water temp sender I found a small coolant leak which turned out to be the dreaded deteriorating plastic on the radiator. So my car sits with no radiator right now.

Nevermind, saw your last thread about the oil plug.

^^ Yep, oil temp, figured id just shut it off instead of it just sitting and flashing there lol. Sorry about your leak man. I was pretty meticulous about checking my hoses for leaks. I got the red adapter from prosport and used the clamps that it came with instead of the jesus clamps that mazda used. Hopefully it will do the job for years to come.

looks good. I'm still waiting for better weather conditions to do the same. I'm looking forward to see your solution for the correct oil temp.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I gotta work a bit on that back left corner. The pics make it look a lot worse than it is though.

temp sender for oil drain plug

now i just need a good way to protect the wires. I figured the sump guard would hide it but there is maybe a quarter inch of wire that sticks out and i dont want anything to hit it.

Good idea, so what did you do with the factory oil pressure adapter? Is the drain plug adapter the same one you linked above from summit? Good idea man.

Sounds like your readings confirm the increased oil pressure in the S2's.

I actually didn't remove the factory oil pressure adapter. The place that you pop the pressure sender to is actually in a different location (there is a small hex nut covering it, you remove the nut and place the sender in there). The location is right above the upper rear spark plug.

Heres the interesting thing too. Just filled her up with RP 5-30 and my idle psi is a tad lower than before. I think before I was getting about 30psi with Pennzoil YB but now I am getting 20-25. My upper end is looking good @ about 120psi. Mind you this was on the street by my house and not a full redline run.

Oh and yes the temp adapter is the one I linked from summit

Oh okay the link to summit states Oil Pressure. I am lazy, can you show me which one you used for the drain plug I am redoing my oil temp gauge setup (adding second oil temp gauge ) and I just got an oil extractor for Xmas so I may relocate to the drain bolt to save the hassle of messing with an adapter on my oil feed line.

The reason it says oil pressure is because it is a 1/8NPT adapter and oil pressure senders are that size. Usually oil temp senders are a bit smaller, but the premium senders from Prosport are 1/8NPT as well. Hope that helps.

FYI here is why i LOVE my oil pump :

Thats 5QT of oil pumped out And when i cracked open the drain plug, not even a drip . Im talking even the oil from the coolers (starting the car after filling you can hear the air evac from the coolers

how did you route the wires from the sender to the gauge pod for the oil temp?

I saw this today and seriously considering doing this real soon, just need to figure out how to get the wires into the passenger compartment.

I routed the wires per usual through the driver side firewall gromet. Prosport gives you enough slack that I was able to get the wires to the oil pan without any issue with some wire left over that I had to tie out of the way.

Got the same pump. I alternate like every other time with it. What I mean is I'll pull the plug for 1 change and the next time I'll use the pump.....and so on. I love it, it works great.

Like mine? I have the Glowshift digital red gauges shown at the top of this page. They match the digital display in the 8 perfectly.

Oh thats an interesting idea, except I think I will probably be pumping from now on since I dont want to risk effing up the temp sensor.

^ Yeah I just got my engine replaced and did my first oil change (since the new engine). I just want to ensure there are no metal shavings in my pan. After a while I'll probably go back to using the pump 100% of the time as well. It really makes changing the oil super easy. And as you said it gets out every last drop. I was concerned the first time I used it and pulled my plug as well. As you stated.... not a drop!

It's just so much easier for you S1 guys too since you dont have to get under the car for the oil filter ... i still need to jack up and reach .
