Schematics Request

What are the odds someone (like maybe @ASH8 ) has access to the radio schematics for the S2s? I attempted to install an aftermarket radio this weekend, but am stymied by the lack of a pinout for the plugs or any aftermarket adapter harnesses for S2s. There are two plugs, and one seems to be mostly audio (though I haven't figured out what all of the wires do yet), but the other is a mystery. I'm not the first to be puzzled by the mysterious second plug either, as there's another thread (currently near the top of the stack in this forum) where the question has been out standing and echoed for a few years now. I've found that at least 2 of the wires in that plug are related to satellite radio, but that's as far as I've made it.

Are you asking for a photo of the mystery plugs?

Back of the radio itself. Left plug seems to mostly contain the audio specific stuff, and the writing on the packaging for this (arriving this afternoon) will illuminate 17/24 on that plug.

Which appears thusly from various angles:

Then there's this guy... No idea. I found that some of the wires are associated with the satellite radio, but I didn't know at the time to keep tabs on that source, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't specific as to which or how many wires.

Is this what you're looking for?
Here's a link to a set of RX8 service manuals. RX8 Service Manuals It's mostly S1 related but the '08 and '09 Service Highlight Manuals have some detailed information on the S2.
Here's a direct link to the '09 service highlights manual pdf. '09 Service Highlights Manual The entertainment section starts on pg. 240, and the diagram below is on pg. 247.

That's what I needed! I don't have that manual yet in print, and didn't realize it had audio stuff in it. I think I have the PDF here somewhere, so I'll dig around there for more info! Thank you!

So... Digging into this a bit, a few questions that are probably pretty dumb, but this is my first modern car audio anything, and I've gotta start somewhere...

I believe TNS is the lighting level (dims with headlights, etc.); confirm?

I've read numerous times that the RX-8 lacks a VSS signal, but there it is right there plain as day. What's the deal there?

DIM as an acronym is too close (exactly the same as) a word otherwise commonly used with automotive electronics to be able to figure out what that acronym is... What is it (and hopefully that will explain why it only ever needs to be cancelled)?

I assume audio control switches refer to steering wheel controls, but please correct me if that's wrong. EDIT: Confirmed in the iDatalink Maestro RR manual, where it's labelled SWI (Steering Wheel Interface).

The diagram shows CAN (+/-), and the iDatalink Maestro RR includes a plug for the OBDII with CANH and CANL. Are these the same? Positive/Negative and High/Low being synonymous? In other words, could I ditch that plug, and just tie in at the plug behind the radio? EDIT: I called iDatalink (or whatever the parent company is called), and they said HL/+- are synonymous, but that there may be different CAN networks within the network (or something like that...). I can backdoor test if they're the right leads by plugging it in and seeing if the gauges show information or not, but if anyone knows how the CAN network is set up here, and whether or not those specific CAN+/- pins are the ones I need, that could save me a lot of trouble and likely a few dollars.

Last one, AUDIOPILOT is the Bose branded volume control to compete with vehicle noise. I seem to recall that being another wire that's used somewhere and supposedly absent on the RX-8, but maybe that only refers to non-Bose models? Can anyone shed any light on this?

Manual S1 RX8s don't have a VSS signal, the ECU adds up the wheel speed sensor signals.
Automatics get VSS from the trans.

Maybe this changed for 2009+ though.;
