Toying with the idea of a single stripe

So I was looking at some other S2 RX-8s on Fuelly and I came across this pic:

The stripes look sweet on that car. It's not the double racing stripes you see on 'stangs and Vipers. Most people here said those don't work well, and my friend said the same thing. I think someone here said that the stripes in the picture is a European style stripe.

My friend with his Mustang(white with blue stripes) told me today that he knows someone who can do stripes and can possibly give me deals. So do you think my Velocity Red Mica RX-8 can look nice with these white European stripes?

Just need some opinions. Thanks!

I just don't want to end up looking a bit too tacky... Don't want my car to look riced or anything.

IMO, a stripe doesn't really work with the lines of this car but you know what they say about opinions...

I vote no.
If you want to change the appearance to make it stand out, invest in a body kit, or maybe a vented hood.

Okay, so looks like stripes won't work...

Are those truly for American cars? I thought the one in picture looks nice. Aww...

Funny how MINI Coopers come with stripes from factory now...

My goal is to make my car stand out, but in a way that most people will like. Can't please everyone, but the stripes have only received negative views here.

If I want a body kit, I will only ever get the OEM one. The R3 OEM body kit looks great, but I don't know where to source them locally. Might ask the dealership.

Vented hood is a bit silly IMO, unless you actually need it.

It's your car so it should represent your sense of style. A bunch of jerks on the Internet having opinions shouldn't be your primary concern.

That said, if you do a stripe, make it subtle. The car is beautiful as it is so adding a bright (garish?) stripe saying "OMG LOOK AT ME I'M A RACECAR OMGWTFBBQ111!!!!" seems dumb. Maybe make it a ghost stripe (only a few shades off from the car's color) so that it doesn't spoil the lines of the car from a distance but you can appreciate it up close where you can't see the whole car at once.

.
I resemble that remark.

I've seen only one 8 with a stripe amongst active members, and he took it off, so there's that.

Vented hood was a suggestion, not my style, but preferable to a stripe, imo.

I wouldn't consider people here jerks. If anything, I think we all want our 8s to looks nice, not riced up.

I see what you are saying - I guess if I really want to, I could have matte red stripes. They won't stand out as much(very subtle), and yet is unique.

I saw a blue S2 RX-8 driving by today when I was shopping, and it had some red letters on the side. Drove by pretty quickly so I couldn't read them.

I have seen FD RX-7s with vented hoods, which look alright, but I just don't think I would want them if I don't need them.

I've always wanted to do a thin stripe. Something like this. Maybe even thinner.

I think it'll look great on a S2, since it's a bit edgier than a S1.
