Series 2 puddle lights?

When I was working on my car the other day, I saw that there are these small plastic covers below the mirrors.

After some searching, these covers are for the optional puddle lights. There is a kit made for S1 side mirrors, but I can't find anything for S2. The covers have different shapes, so I can't just slap the S1 ones on, either.

Anyone has any ideas?

My Australian Spec S2 Luxury (or your GT) has factory puddle lights on both sides.

What to do, could buy S2 AU/JDM Spec Door Mirrors which are expensive..
I heard of the US puddle kit for S1 only, I guess these are wired into the interior light dimmer.

IF your model does not have interior light dimmer then you may have a problem even IF you can source puddle light lens and festoon light holder etc.

The only parts sold OEM separately on my S2 are the Mirror Assembly (coloured) and mirror glass and the puddle festoon globe, the puddle lens and fittings are not available separately...same for Aussie S1.

NOTE: Just for the record Puddle Lights were never made available on the S1 (or S2) for RX-8 US Spec models, the mirrors are the same for S1 and S2 in design and shape. (same part number). NOTE: S1 and S2 in Australia/Japan/UK had puddle lights available.

Thanks a lot for looking up for me.

From what I can gather, someone in America made a kit call Big *****! kit or something like that for the S1, and the wiring basically just taps into the existing door lights wiring.

Seems like it's too much cost for something like this. I was toying around with this idea because those covers reminded me of my buddy's 16 Ecoboost 'Stang, which has these puddle lights project Mustang logo on the ground from the factory. I have personally installed a set of ghost lights with Mazda logo to replace the regular old door lights. Some people(that sometimes includes myself, too!) see this as a bit tacky, but my friends all like them, so...

I was thinking of drilling a hole in the existing cover and making my own units, but on second thought, probably not a great idea with all the rain we get here.

You Australians get some cool stuff we don't get in North America like those Philips Ultinon T20/7440 amber LED bulbs. Cost me a lot to get them over to Canada from Australia, but they work very well. Wish they are easier to get here.

(I can be a bit of a car lighting nut, BTW. I don't stuff my car full of neon lights, but I do constantly look for some possible mods for lighting.)

Yup I remember when those puddle lenses were available here or mentioned, they were a bit roughly made out of clear plastic but worked from memory OK.
