Headlight Shrouds

I want to swap out the main headlight shroud with something different.

Has anyone done this yet or knows the diameter / the ease of swapping the actual shroud out?

what exactly would you swap it out with. The projector shroud is part of the internal reflector assembly.

I don't want to swap the actual projector. I want the shroud around it. I saw an RX-8 at a car show a few months ago with a cool halo / shroud behind the actual headlight / headlight strakes.

I was thinking of attempting the look and get something from Projector Shrouds from The Retrofit Source Inc

If memory serves me correctly, our shroud is actually part of the internal molding. There isn't a way of easily "swapping" out. At minimum your looking at baking your headlights to disassemble them. I and others have done it successfully, others have had to get a new set of headlights. My suggestion, look at the price of new headlights first, then if still willing, follow a few DIYs around here (I think Paimon did one recently) and take yours apart. Good time to see what all it would take to either mod your shroud or cut out/replace it with one from retrofit source and can also paint them if you like the look.

I have already opened them and put halos in. One halo though fell off (I guess the epoxy is ****) and so is half hanging there. Hence, why I saw the other 8 with them and thought those looked a LOT nicer than a halo ring in front.

I will open them up soon, since I bought oil cooler guards anyways and have to take the bumper off soon too. Once I do this, I will do some measurements and try to see what I can do with it. If I remember correctly though, they did come off with two pieces, one with the actual strakes, and the part behind (which is the one I want to replace).
