Angel eyes(halos) for my headlights

i was pondering the idea if it was possible to some how to install angel eyes around our projector front, If you look closely there is a cap around the the projector. Perhaps it is posible to install angel eyes and wire them to the parking lights. Anyone else think of this. Or even if its possible?

it may be tricky to open up the head lights and then reseal them. other than that it cant be too tricky. please take pics/instructions if you do this.

These might work

These are sold specifically for the RX-8 headlights. Unfortunately I can't find an American Supplier. Might be the best bet if you are willing to spend the money.

oh man, this isn't going to go well. Crunk, listen to Chris; be VERY careful with those headlights. You're talking about putting over $1,000 worth of headlamps in the OVEN.

2k4_8 05-08-2008 01:44 AM

I baked my alero headlights, used the lowest setting and checked them every 5 minutes. They will hold up better than you think, and just used a good quality silicone to seal them back up. Make sure you seal them well or you WILL get condesation in your headlights!

snowflakes 05-08-2008 03:42 AM

I actually succeeded on taking the whole housing apart with a heater gun for about 20 minutes... and the headlights were from my 8 when it was in a hit and run accident =/... came in handy thats for sure lol...

snowflakes 05-08-2008 03:42 AM

heater gun~~~~~ not a bad choice of weapon lol

yushinrt 05-08-2008 03:43 AM

Yea just bake the headlight around 150c in your oven make sure your oven door is open. And check it quite often. I was going to make my headlight angel eye but I decided not do it because of my country road rule.
i don;t know if this helps but here is some picture of the Dissembled headlights http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t...inrt/?start=40

DaveCM203 05-17-2008 10:52 AM

That is a lot of trouble and risk for something that does absolutely nothing.

prisonerofcs 05-19-2008 12:43 PM

I baked open my headlights on my RSX to paint the reflectors. I used the lowest setting on the oven, then the heat gun for any of the tabs that were still stiff. I can't comment on the longevity of the mod since the headlights and the rest of the car were scrapped after meeting a telephone pole at 60mph ;)

Also a friend of mine had angel eyes professionally installed on his R1 and they had to re-install them 3 times because the rings kept breaking. Both physically and electrically. They couldn't take the vibrations. He finally had them take them out.

I love the look and hope they work for you. As for the difficulty, just take you time and be careful. https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
:)

yushinrt 05-19-2008 05:25 PM

yea there is a big risk in opening the head lights, i recommend buying a spair set before you try anything crazy

LiL BenNy 05-29-2008 02:46 AM

i just did my friends headlights.. why is everyone so anal about the 8;s headlights...? is there something that makes these different then baking other cars headlights?

JOK3RNY 07-10-2008 12:13 AM

Well yea these headlights cost 995.00 each if you have the HID version, i had both of mine replaced by the dealer! Good luck if you bake your headlights, there go two grand! Just be careful for all DIY guys!! You guys can elso go to www.automotivelightstore.com, they offer the halo rings for the RX8 for 150.00, also on ebay[http://stores.ebay.com/Advanced-Automotive-Concepts] selling so far for $100 for 4 halos, two small rings and two small ones! They can also install them for $150! They also have a video on youtube.com on how to install them yourself! Your welcome guys!

NgoRX8 07-10-2008 12:27 AM
