Why is everyone caught up with total HP? All that truly matters is the delta before tune and after. I get it might have been a "sick" RX8 but is one to assume if you had a "healthy " RX8 there would be no gains?
I pick my R3 up this week with a brand new motor, RB header, BHR ignition and BHR midpipe. Once engine has a few miles I will dyno on local dyno with these bolt ons, then later with Versatune.

As I have mentioned elsewhere here, we had our brand new Mustang MD-500 AWD dyno delivered Friday. We are in the process of installing it. Once it's installed, we will start grinding out pre-built tunes. Each tune will come with a before and after dyno sheet done on a healthy car and on a properly calibrated dyno. No BS. No smoke and mirrors. Just real HP gains.

That's great!!!! You might beat me to it, the local dyno is a AWD as well ( linked) had to use it on my Fiat Abarth when tuning that little rocket!!!

Any way you are able to create a 25 pounds boost fuel map? Our Cobb Accessport got stolen and we use 800cc x 4 with 2x 380cc injectors. Please let us know, thank you and best regards, mark angelo

Our new dyno mule!
We hope to have a performance tune for stock cars published in the next few weeks.

any data on this yet? Interested in seeing some healthy numbers! I've been running versatune for a while and it definitely pepped up the cars response and enjoyability of driving

Steve@VersaTune 12-17-2018 01:32 PM

We just got the car on Saturday. We need to do a health check and fix any issues, though it seems to run well with only 8k miles on a Mazda factory reman engine.

Would it be possible for you to include compression test results with the dyno charts?

Second NotAPreppie's request.

In case you need a compression tester: https://rotarycompressiontester.com/

So does Versatuner require flashing an entirely new tune or can you modify only certain parameters of the stock tune? For example, increase the rev limit and leave everything else stock.

UnknownJinX 01-03-2019 02:38 PM

IIRC you can copy the stock map so you can roll back when needed. Then you can probably make another copy and go wild with it.

No point to just increase the rev limit without modifying anything else, unless you just want bragging rights. Torque starts to rapidly drop off after 8500 RPM stock and it falls off a cliff after 9k RPM. You also risk apex seals coming into contact with the housing(usually you have some oil film between the two).

troyguitar 01-03-2019 02:48 PM

It might be pointless on the street/track, but it beats riding the limiter or having to shift up and right back down in autox. The extra few mph in 2nd would be helpful on many courses with the shorter gearing on the series II cars. I still have warranty through 2019 so won't do anything this year regardless but I'm looking at options for 2020+ if I keep the car.

You can edit any of the exposed tuning parameters, like fuel, spark, oil injection, rev limit, etc, You can make changes and save tunes just like you would edit a Word document. You need to flash the changes to the ECU each time you make a change for them to take effect.. At any time, you can roll back to a previous tune or to the complete factory stock tune that was backed up when you installed VersaTuner. Check out the demo to see what tables are exposed.

The first thing I did with mine was just to block the reoccurring CEL caused by the missing cat. Nice and simple.

Also I just happened to have a Versalink cable for sale 😁

I got rear oxygen CEL since I have a decat, should I just block it or install a new rear oxygen sensor?

Steve@VersaTune 01-13-2019 09:46 PM

What is the code? Is it catalyst efficiency or something specific to the O2 sensor? If it's catalyst efficiency, then just mask the code in tune customizer.

sapibuntinx 01-16-2019 01:07 AM

it is specific to rear o2, iirc it is P0037.

Steve@VersaTune 01-16-2019 06:40 AM

If it's P0037, then there's an electrical problem or failed O2 sensor. You can try replacing the sensor to see if it fixes it.

Tune 1.04

Hello

I live in France and i just buy the Versalink and Versatuner, fort my RX8 R3.

The tune currently in download, (1.04) integrates the changes you're talking about in this post ?
with your new power bench and your new RX8 pictured ?

thanks

That tune was developed on a customer car (2010 R3) on a different dynamometer, not our shop car. The gains on your car should be similar to the graph at the top of this thread.

If I read the comments on this post, the tune would not necessarily be very optimized because of the RX8 used for the test, was perhaps not at its best !!
You speak for 7 months of an update with your own RX8 and your own bench?
Have to conclude, that this new tune is not yet developed?
When can I hope to download it?

Steve@VersaTune 07-02-2019 07:45 PM

I think the issue with that dyno chart was the dyno configuration, not the car.

I have ported the S1 stock car Stage 1 tune to S2.

Thank you steve
Can you give us more details on the porting of this tune S1 / S2?
I see that you have indicated that the oil injection has been increased. The S2 already has an optimized lubrication system with more injectors.
Does the tune take into account the technical specifics of the S2?
Did you test this tune on your RX8 S2?

Steve@VersaTune 07-09-2019 02:01 PM

All of the relevant fuel, spark, and apv table changes are copied. The oil is only slightly increased at high load and rpm.
Our RX-8 is a S1. It has not been tested on a S2. These are not radical changes.
The tunes in our database are unlocked and can be viewed or edited by anyone with the full version of VersaTuner. You are also free to create your own tunes from scratch with the full version of VersaTuner.

how are you seeing the the Desired Engine Torque and calculated engine torque map being used for boosted applications? this seems like a Automatic only map, but is available in manual cars as well.

when do you think controlling the SSV opening perimeters will be available?
