AxialFlow S2 Shifter
Mine was at home waiting for me after work. Took about 30 min to drop it in. Love it so far! Very tight and precise. Compliments my lightweight flywheel quite well. Thanks a ton, Richard!

As to the DIY I was thinking that if you just leave out the part about the spacer plate
then this one is the same. I'm saying that without going and looking at the old DIY.

I can't think of how that can be so let's start over.
Pull it back out and look for something out of place.
Make sure the white boot sleve has not fallen down past the dowel pin.
Make sure the lower bushing is square when it goes into the trans.
Rotate the upper plastic part so the grooves go over the pins.
Screw the 3 bolts down.
Before putting the boots on look at the stick while trying all gears.
That's all there is to it.
You might try looking up the S2 DIY and ignore everything that has to do with the spacer, espsially the part about removing the trans top. You don;t want to do that. Write back or if you still have trouble call my cell phone: 818 974 7300

When you shorten the trow it shortens it in all directions.
There is no reason to rely on the shift gate for gear selection.
What do yo do for 3 and 4?

Ahh ok that makes sense,ya it was a very short learning curve I'm already used to it ,3rd and 4th are right where they've always been.

We have found a temporary fix.
What we think has happened is the upper bearing (funnel looking part)
isn't putting enough pressure on the pivot. It's only about .005 inch.
What we've tried is two small pieces of tape on the part, one each side of the groove.
thus putting more pressure on the sphere.
Try it and let me know.
If this proves to be a fix then we will make new parts for everyone.

I can attest to the noise / vibration issue at high rpm / strong acceleration.
I think mine is amplified by the AutoExe **** that resonates. I am glad this is being worked on, not sure where to put the tape based on the description.

The idea of this trick is to take up the clearance between the sphere
and the race. Use 2 pieces of tape one on each side of the notch running up and down. Thus putting tape between the ball and the outer race.
All it seems to take is .005 and .010 of an inch.
It will wear out but it shows where the noise is coming from.
I've had 2 guys give me feedback on this and it works.
If the rest of the feedback is good then I will make some new parts that are that much longer.
I will send all people who got S2.2 shifters the replacement part.
All shifters made from then on will have the improvement.

Played around with different kinds of tape, different geometries (2 strips, 4 strips, etc.) over the weekend.
No matter what I tried, I still get a 'transmission noise' resonating through the shifter which only gets louder and more noticeable the more I shift.
I've gone back to stock again. Any word on when we should expect the new part(s)? Thanks in advance.

As of right now there are 8 units unspoken for in the new batch.
Hopefully they will not scrap any this time. So if your going to order one you should do so soon.

The website states it reduces the throw by 29%. It's definitely noticeable and feels great. When I first installed it I spent every free minute behind the wheel. Felt great moving through the gears. Very precise and solid. My friends, who don't know much about cars, kept saying my car had more power after the install. So the quicker shifting does make a noticeable difference when you're accelerating. My 0 to 60 time did improve. The shifter compliments my BHR flywheel quite nicely as well. The lighter flywheel could be a little tricky with the stock shifter, but the quicker throw let's you get the gear before the RPMs drop too much. If you have a lightweight flywheel or plan to get one I'd snag one of these while you can. I had to wait over a year to get one of these shifters.
The only downside is my bushing wore out super fast. I'm guessing it's due to the rattle RP mentioned. I had to switch back to the stock shifter it got so bad. Hoping the fix RP is working on will take care of this issue.
All in all, I highly recommend this shifter. You will love how it feels, especially with a lighter flywheel. Going back to the stock shifter was hard to do after playing with this one.
