Then I found a guy selling a used greddy sp2 locally. It ust needed to be cleaned up and had to buy a gasket for it. I got it for $280

I polished the mufflers and the tips but the tips still have a bit of the golding effect on them. I'm going to take the exhaust off again one day and use a proper buffing wheel to shine them up nicely, but here's what I did by hand with some auto-sol.

And here's the greddy sp2 fitted on my R3

This exhaust is meant for a S1 and will not bolt onto an S2. The stock rubber hangers are 1.5" center to center from the muffler hanger to the body hanger (the metal rods) and I had to lower it about an inch. I got some different rubber hangers to get me by for now, but when I get a chance I am going to put the car on the hoist and I'm going to tig some new metal hangers onto the exhaust The exhaust is a little shaky if you grab it with your hand because the rubber hangers I used don't have the best support in them as they are longer. You do not have to lower the pipe between the cat and the mufflers, I have the factory hanger in place there still.

I've had it on since Sunday and I daily drive the car, the exhaust shrouds have not melted and the tips sit about 1/2" below the shroud, about 3/4" from the outside, and about 1" from the inside.

Edit** ^^ Actually, I looked today, and there are 2 small melted spots but it's not from the heat itself... I am 99.9% sure it's from the exhaust being able to shift back and forth because of the hangers, and that the exhaust actually made contact with the shroud. It's not noticable unless you actually look in beside the tip on the side of the shroud

Also, please excuse my rear tire tread, lol. I know they are bald. I have new yokohama avid envigors in the garage. (You can see them in the background of one of the pictures)

Comments and questions welcome

Exhaust looks great, and nice find. Unfortunately i don't think anyone is ever going to make an affordable exhaust specifically for our S2's.

I've already thought of putting different tips on.. dual 4 or 4.5" pie cut tig welded stainless turn downs... but still using the greddy mufflers and piping.

I am quite happy with the exhaust tho. Not too loud in the lower rpms around town, and sounds pretty good when you roll into it. Highway speeds isn't obnoxious or too droned out.

One thing I've noticed though is that when you let off the gas pedal, for a short second there's a very deep bass tone that you can hear through the car. It's like a 30hz bass test tone lol. Or if you're in between that throttle position of giving it gas, and letting off.. like if your foot is just resting on the pedal you can hear it.

The racing beat one isn't exactly breaking the bank at $700.

looks good on the R3! Nice find too. I also bought my sp2 at a great price used. Some of the tarnish didn't come out even after polishing, but it's not noticeable unless you have the car on a lift.

I would like to do the same with S1 REV8 catback on my S2. I do wonder can exhaust shop just bend the tips pipes to achieve same thig that using longer hanger would accomplish?
