What exactly was the point of this exercise? As far as I can tell it's to try to fit a combo that obviously wasn't ideal for the RX-8. Even worse is going staggered on wheels of the same width, especially since the nominal tread width of 245s is actually thinner than the wheels.

its a style. some people like it, some people dont.

staggered tire size isnt uncommon. the 350z and g35s actually come this way for certain models.

to run the aggressive width and offset it would be necessary in the front to run a smaller tire size. like i said some people like it some dont

or have two people in the back seat, that's an accident waiting to happen

I could care less about why other than if that's the look you want then at least do it correctly i.e. proper tire/fender clearance for the sake of safety rather than some poseur more concerned about looking cool

I can't wait for MazdaManiac to see this thread

im running 245 front and 275 rear, i really dont see how is it wront tire size in the front!
Uhh, you think 245s on a 10" wheel is the right size???????

I dont of any tire manufactuer that would actually say putting a 245 on a 10" wheel is safe.

What IS the point of getting huge width wheels if your not going to run the huge tires that go with them? Just like the added weight?

um, quite possibly because you are only running 245's on a 10" wheel.
_
your fronts probably look like / \ that, only worse. its not safe, especially at high speeds when taking corners. get properly sized tires.

you run the risk of having the tire come off of the bead, especially if your tire pressure is low.

Well 245s have the width range of 8-9.5". For your own safety, I suggest you get narrower fronts. I know it's not as cool as saying you have 10" wide wheels, but trying to seem "cool" at the expense of safety is just stupid.

i totally understand that some people wouldn't like it, but i think this is sick!
just research a little more about VIP style, the japanese drift cars, then you guys will understand what is flush.
if you guys seen the burnout rx8, that is flush!
if i could i would have went with 18X10.5 24+ in the back!

I agree a 245 on a 10" is pretty stretched out there. I know I would be worried, but hey, it's your car. Just make sure your insurance is up to date

don't forget, my car is turbo'ed right now, if not I wouldn't run stagger. I just want a wider tires in the back so I won't lose as much traction!

Nothing wrong with wide wheels if they fit. Personally I would not want the outer wheel lip exposed either because you are just inviting a curbed rash.
