Winter tires or All Season for new wheels?

I have stock wheels wrapped with Potenza RE040 and have zero ice/snow traction. We just had 8 inches of snow and have been stuck for a week. I have a tire warrantee from the dealer that as long as I goto them for rotations and balances I have free tires for life, so changing the tire on the stock rims seems kinda pointless.

I was looking at getting some ADR M-Sport in 18" staggered.. Now the problem comes in here. It seems like a waste to buy snow tires when here in Kentucky we get snow maybe 1-3 times a year, very rarely more than an inch or two. Since I'm buying new tires I'd rather have them on the car than stock so it makes more sense to get all-season tires. BUT, I autocross and I don't know how well the RE040's traction is.. So I'm looking for advice here..

What are some good all-season tires that I can use on the staggered 18's, good dry performance but still go places in mild snow. And if anyone can comment on how well the RE040's are for autocross I'd appreciate it.

I love the PZero Nero M+S tires I put on my car - All Season, better all-around performance than the OEM Potenzas, great wear, reasonable cost.

You will NOT be sorry with this choice. There are nay-sayers on this board who out of hand dismiss All-Seasons as a compromise, and to some degree, they are at least for winter performance versus a pure winter tire, but these tires give up NOTHING to the OEM Potenzas in summer performance. And you don't have to deal with wheel swapping, investing a huge amount in two sets of "shoes" for the car, etc.
