Or even 42 offset? I'll be running 275s on the rears. I know I may need to roll the fenders, but my car is running pretty agressive camber on the rears.

I will shortly be having an answer to this as I have just bought some 19.9.5 with a 45mm offset. From what I understand 45mm should fit fine and its the around the max but I will be finding out as I too am gonna put some 275s.

the answer is well known, either offset will work, you just have to watch the tire diameter, use short aspect ratio tires and you'll be fine
and you should run 9.5/275's @ 42-45mm offset all around, they fit with no mods if you heed the advice above

staggered setups are not what an RX-8 is all about ....

^^..thats harsh... i know staggered is wrong ... but im not racing.... not everyone is buying their car to use as an AUto-X er or race car..staggered is a "look" nowadays which does look very nice if you broaden your thoughts ... its not for everyone like yourself ....but that dont mean those peeps dont know ***** about their cars...i perosnally would not use the 8 as a racer.. if i wanted to race i would get an FD.. not thats handling with power and a racers cockpit.. add some crazzy coilovers to the FD and you got your self a sweet looking and performing race car...( i oneday in the near future will do this).. a RX-7 all go & RX-8 all show with some go combo.

Thanks everyone for the info. I know staggered would somewhat mess up the balanced handling on the 8 but I'm keeping my stock wheels for the future DE / autox. Speaking of FD, yea I'm fortunate to own one as well and it's track ready, but I'm planning to sell it soon since I just don't drive it much. Don't know how hard is it to do an engine swap... (!!!)
