Widest tires to fit on 8?
Hello,
I am a newbie here, I was wodering what the widest front and rear tires you could put on. I have a set of michellin pilot sports from my dad's m3, 275/30-19 and 225/40-19 front, will these fit?
Thanks,
Troy J.

Bump. I've put 255s on successfully in the rear, but I haven't heard anyone going bigger....would be interesting to hear opinions from the "fitment pros" out there. TireRack doesn't offer any size options bigger than 245. <shrug>

I have 275/35/18 Hoosiers on the stock 8" rims for autocross, and there is plenty of room. They are on all four wheels, and there is no rubbing, hitting, or interference of any kind (even at full lock in the front).
I think those rims and tires will fit fine on the car.

I'd like to see that to..sounds like it would have a nice stance to it..
* I think he was asking about 275 on a 19" rim...I don't know about that...it all depends on the Rim + tire combo..offset, sidewall, width...275 seems kinda tight on a 19" you can't shrink less than 35 on the side wall because you're already at rim bending specs....I think a 275/35 would be asking for trouble...I think you'll scrub on the front...and you definitely would have to roll the fenders if you plan on dropping the car..

Remember tpryor was talking about Hoosiers and autocross. B-stock means stock wheel size (18x8) and Hoosiers are race slicks that have stiff sidewalls. So while he did say 275s fit on the stock wheel, that doesn't help for street tire size info.

Well, thanks for the input guys... I am currently driving my 8 with the stock re040's in the snow! I got stuck in my driveway, but some of it has melted so I am okay for now. I keep prayin' that winter ends baby!
Anyway, I plan to either run 18x10 rear and 18x8.5 front wheels or 19" of those widths. I am going go get either Pilot Sport 2's or s-03's, I am a big fan of the Pzero Nero, but I have had it on 3 tire sets in a year and it is time to change up. I plan to get a borla exhaust, intake, and maybe a computer chip by the summer, and the 19s or 18s. This puppy will be ready to do battle with my buddy's 350z pretty soon.

u can baby an engine but wheels u can only hope u see that pothole when driving.. or dont slip out when u hit the black ice
if u find that it is recommeneded to stick with the same size tires... i would say do so. its a risky chance for the car to look a lil better.

Some guys here are doing it, because they want the look more than they care about ruining the handling balance. It's definitely a trade-off to be aware of before you go that way.

I think I am going to go with 18's @ 9 & 10" wide. I was at the mall today and a Carrera 4s parked next to me, they have 18x8 and 18x10 285/30-18 rear and I dunno the front, maybee a 225. Just looking at the porsche's rear tires and then my rear tires, made my decision not to go to 19. I will hopefully find some wheels that are lighter than my stock, even at those wider widthsl; but 18s are the size for me. Oh yeah, the guy who drove the Carrera asked me if I wanted to race, I said, "naa, I have to break it in yet." More like, "no, you would kill me" LoL

After further pondering wheels, I have decided on a wheel. The BBS CH; 18" or 19". I am soooo torn with the rim size, but I now have a question on the width again. Does anybody on here know the absolute widest wheel that can be put on the front that won't rub? I am almost sure of getting 10's in the back, but if I can get 9.5's all around, then I may rethink my decision.

9.5 up front no good.Even a 9 is a little to aggresive up there.I went with 18x8 18x10 245 40 275 35 maybe a 285 im waiting on rims now to see how much fender will have to be rolled.I wouldnt go anymore then a 10,but contact Huff @ vivid.Guy has alot of knowledge and patience "which he needed with me"and good prices.

Kel you realize your really hurting your acceleration with that? The good side is your putting almost 7% less actual miles on your car. This is the main reason i didnt want to try to spin a 19 more less a 20.Have you noticed a difference?Your car looks sweet no doubt about it,but at what cost.

i mean its okay but no worth stating.im planing on getting another fd just for the power and keep the 8 for weekend crusing and showing.im not trying to squeeze any power out of the 8 or
worry about 20" being to big.matter of fact some people say are they 18-19 ?
all i have to say is i luv the way my car looks and the compliments
surpass my fd,which is crazy too me but....
p.s raced a blk 911 turbo last night in the s4 the 8 would of been murdered. i didnt beat him but doing some pulls and keeping up was nice.and he lives by me so we will get to play later
