Wheels help!!
I am in the process of purchasing some wheels but I just have a single question? The wheels that I want comes is size 20, they have 2 sets of the same wheel posted 1 set of wheels is et 42 and the other set is et 45. Which set do I get the 42 or the 45, and what does that mean?

you sure you don't want the 22x6.5, i mean..everything is BIGGER in TX right, Why not go all out? Those would fit great...make sure you get the spinners also...its not complete with out those...if you half *** it...you won't get any luv here yo..

and et is referring to the offset.
42 and 45 are very odd offsets. Interesting how they made two molds and sets of wheels that have an offset of just 3mm apart. Anyway, how wide are the wheels? Until you know the width of the wheel... its not possible to calculate how it will fit on your car.
I'm not a fan of 20" rims, but i also don't care. If thats what you want... we'll try to help you find a set that fits.

If its 7.5 he needs a lower offset. 42 might work.
Its 8mm further out than stock, but the wheel is .5" narrower, and hence .25" (6.35mm) closer to the caliper. So essentially with a 42mm offset he'll be 1.65mm further away from the caliper.
That is cutting it really close. If the spokes on these rims are thicker than stock... you might have issues with it hitting the caliper.
Do they come in a lower offset?

No, no no! You cannot tell caliper clearance based on offset or any other general dimension when discussing a different/unknown wheel. It depends on how the spokes curve and they don't give dimensions on those.
Also, offset is based off the centerline, so width has no bearing on it. The change is the difference between the offsets; 50mm - 42mm = 8mm. The wheel lip positions change based on the difference in width and offset relocation.
8 - 7.5 = 0.5" width change but you have to divide by 2 to get the change per lip = 0.25"
the ouboard lip moves in 1/4" from the width change and then out 8mm from the offset change, so the outboard wheel lip is 1.65mm further outboard than the OE wheel lip position
the inboard lip moves toward the outside 1/4" due to the width change and out another 8mm due to the offset change, so the inboard lip moved 14.35mm toward the outside relative to the OE wheel lip position

I think if you know the offset and width you know how much further away from the caliper you were going to be. True, you won't know exactly because alot of it depends on the design of the spokes. But i knew on my wheels that going to a 9.5" width rim and -10mm in offset, was going to push me out ALOT further than stock... so brake caliper wasn't a huge concern of mine.
I'm not telling Terrance his won't fit... but he is running really close, and should be cautious.

I ordered the wheels with the et of 42 because thats what the retailer recommended. The size of the rim is 20x7.5, now I am looking for tire size that would be the best fit and look for that size rim. Any suggestions?

wait a minute...for real though no joke...why did you pick to go with 20x7.5 that will almost look like an old 1800's wagon wheel...find some pics of KelRX8's ride...he has 20's and probably the most perfect fitment of them...if i can find a link to his i'll post it up later...i think you'll be dissappointed with 7.5..

I'm not saying that either, I'm just saying that you can't tell one way or another just by the specs. Somebody has to have verified it otherwise you're shooting in the dark. In this case the supplier recommended it, so it's probably safe to say that it's been checked and known to work. Further, it may clear now, but have issues with other subsequent mods. As an example, the OE 18" wheel has plenty of clearance with the RacingBrake BBK, but we discovered that the Enkei RPF1 18 x 9.5 x 45mm offset sold by Goodwin Racing needed a 5/16 spacer to clear the caliper. The spokes on the Enkei wheel curved in a lot sooner than the OE wheel, there's no way to know that from the specs. RacingBrake is in the process of relocating the caliper and rotor to provide clearance with the Enkei so it will be a non-issue soon.
