aftermarket rims'll look half ass if not lowered

jayscoobs 04-01-2011 02:36 AM

I'm lowered on springs so I don't think they will be half assed. My handling is half assed though with these springs. I feel like she can handle a lot better with coilovers. But I want her to look good too.

Hey, whatever makes you happy. Get coilovers first then rims. End of story.

i thought most ppl go with 265 or even 275 in 9.5 rims? do u auto-x? iirc i think the stx limit is 265

J8635621 04-01-2011 11:29 AM

Did you miss the +27 part?

dezau 04-01-2011 11:33 AM

yea i did.... lol well then i dunno why he'd pick a 9.5 rims then lugging the extra weight

looks

Actually I have a quick question about that. For say track don't you need wider wheels for better traction and grip. How is running 9.5 wheels lugging around extra weight? I thought NT03 with the wider size is still lighter than OEM? My goal is occasional track this summer but I also want her to look good.

For track duty (non autoX) the stock 225\45 wheels on a 8j rim will do just fine.
245 and 9j rim is the widest i'd go. No need or benefit in going any wider.

Do you want the car to look good around corners or do you want retards drooling over it in a parking lot? wide tyres and a very low stance are for the latter goal :)
The look of a well balanced car with a sporty alignment is subtle but a wise eye will tell the difference.

yes you'd need wider wheels AND TIRES for better traction, but i'm saying if ur just getting 245 tires, might as well go with 8.5 rims. or if u really want "wide" rims, go with a less aggresive offset like +38 and get 265 tires like most people
