The nuts are all there except they are all regular nuts.
****NOTE**** Make sure to check your tire pressure, as it is common for the ports to put 50psi to help stiffen the tire wall during transport. My dealer took care of this before I left.

In my trunk was a bag with the coded lug nuts. The bag said Protege and Miata, I believe -- no mention of the RX-8 application. I noticed they are a good bit heavier than the regular lugs, so I weighed them: 46 grams for the locking one vs. 33 grams for the standard one. Is this something that significantly affects wheel balance? It is close to the center of rotation as opposed to being out on the rim, but I wonder....

I had a pack in the trunk with the regular nuts and the key. It is actually a $30 cdn option for the wheel locks but most dealers put them on as soon as they get the car, because they would REALLY be up S**T creek if someone stole the wheels off the car in the lot!

I have wheel locks installed, but I just realized there's no key. I've looked everywhere and don't think the key is "hiding" in the vehicle anywhere. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow.

Yes, voodoo. I looked there, but didn't see it. Then again, I've never had wheel locks, so I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. Can someone describe what the key looks like? Thanks.

By the way for those who never had locking nuts, protect that "key/socket" as if it was made of gold. It has a tendancy to disappear when you visit a garage. Always check for it before you leave the garage/dealer if they have remotely come close to the wheels. I had to ask a couple of mechanics for it when I noticed that it was missing (when they do an oil change they often rotate the tires). The first time was when I had to get a new set of tires. I had to go back to the dealer since all past work was done there. They argued that they didn't keep it and wanted me to pay for a new one. In the end they gave up and gave me a used one. I don't think they do it on purpose but they "forget" that it is on their torque bar.

Good advice. I wish I'd known to check for it before I left when I picked up the car. Truth is, I wasn't even aware the car had wheel locks. Anyway, I've got to go back to the dealer to get them to match the locks with a key, and they may have to order the key and ship it to me.
It's a two hour drive back to the dealer. Hmmmm, some quality time with my RX-8 isn't really all bad.

With my last car, I always used to leave the key on the passenger seat. I finally realized they were never using it. They told me they had a master wheel lock key of some sort, so I could have just left the thing in the trunk or at home to avoid losing it. Is this the usual thing? (It was a Lexus dealer.)
